17.01.2022 More ways to reduce your shoulder pain!

16.01.2022 Good posture starts with your spine Good posture involves your whole body, but it starts with your spine. A neutral spine means having all three natural curves in your back (Cervical, Thorax and Lumbar) present and in proper alignment. When viewed from the side , your neutral spine creates the shape of an S curve. Neutral spine looks different on everyone!! Focus on finding what is for your body How to find your Neutral Spine.... Lay on your back, bend your knees, inhale a deep breathe to prepare, exhale and tilt your pelvis upward. Softly imprint your back onto a mat. Exhale and lengthen your tailbone towards the floor, finding a slight space between the lower back and the mat. Imagine you have a grape between your lower back and the mat and you don't want to squash it. That will be your Neutral Spine. .

14.01.2022 ! Foam rollers can be used for more than just massaging muscles! Give these exercises a go if you really want to test yourself!... GLUTE BRIDGE - squeeze through bum muscles to lift hips off ground - straighten knees whilst keeping hips off ground. You should feel your bum muscles and hamstrings burn! - bring knees back to a bent position and drop hips to floor AB ROLL OUT - engage/tighten your abdomen - start straightening out from your knees - keep your back straight (dont let it bend or sag). Will feel like a really hard plank if done correctly. - roll back to start position You can find more foam rolling videos over on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAE596IpJDIIGop7BvFkEbw

13.01.2022 For those of you that missed yesterdays foam rolling practical, you can check out the videos (x3) over on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5HXdz-cPT8

At this point in time, Osteopathy is classed as an essential service and we will therefore be remaining open!... There is a likelihood that some opening hours may be altered, so it would be best to call the clinic on 03 9720 7970 to confirm times. Hope you all stay safe and we get through this quickly!

04.01.2022 REMINDER- Q&A THIS THURSDAY! Pre-submit questions via the event and come ready to learn!

02.01.2022 OSTEOPATHY AND STAGE 4 RESTRICTIONS AN IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE READ Due to stage 4 restrictions and new legislation from the Department of Health & Human Services, over the next six weeks (hopefully no longer!) we will only able to provide face to face appointments for those in need of urgent care.... Urgent care will be decided on a case by case basis, but may include factors such as: - If your pain is significantly impacting your functional independence - If a delay in providing care would result in you attending an emergency department You do NOT need a referral from a GP to attend for urgent care. However, if you think that you are in need of an urgent appointment please call us, and one of our osteopaths will have a chat to you prior to making an appointment. Please keep your booking confirmation text message when travelling to the clinic. We are not able to provide routine/maintenance care at this point in time. If you have a pre-booked appointment, expect a call from your Osteopath to discuss options. We will be offering some limited telehealth appointments, and our Osteos are always happy to have a chat if you are having any issues! You are allowed to travel outside your 5km zone to attend appointments, IF YOU ARE ALREADY AN EXISTING CLIENT AT THE CLINIC. New clients are advised to seek a practitioner within your 5km zone. Please note, we will have reduced hours over the next six weeks, as well as reduced reception availability. If you think that you are in need of an urgent appointment, please contact us via phone on 9720 7970. Leave a voicemail if necessary and we WILL get back to you! We understand how frustrating this situation is for everyone, however due to the current circumstances it is important that we all do our bit to keep everyone safe. Kind regards, The Macfarlane Clinic Team
