24.01.2022 YEAR 3 MULTIPLICATION FAIR DAY 3A, 3B and 3E hosted their multiplication fair today where all the students designed a multiplication game and then had their peers play them. A very exciting and hands on learning time for these students.

23.01.2022 LEADERSHIP PROGRAM @ MAC G In Term 3, Year 5 students were given the opportunity to participate in a leadership program, requiring completion of a leadership project over the course of 5 weeks. Students who successfully completed the program were presented with their leadership badge on Monday 14th September on Senior Assembly. These students are now eligible to nominate for school leadership positions in 2021. Congratulations to all staff and students involved.

20.01.2022 SANTA ROUND THE WORLD Our Prep students attended a performance of Santa Round the World today, presented by Timbara Productions. This interactive performance is a highlight each year for the Prep students. They had a great time learning and exploring a live performing arts event.... Finishing off the morning with a cool and refreshing ice block with their friends.

16.01.2022 SHEP QLD The State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) QLD is open to all Secondary School students performing at an extremely high standard. MacGregor is proud to have Louis F representing the school at the upcoming workshop held at the Griffith University during the school holidays. Louis will participate in the three day experience playing percussion. We wish Louis the best of luck and know he will do the school proud.

15.01.2022 MUSIC EXCELLENCE (MEX) @ MAC G MEX students enjoyed a masterclass with Mark Sullivan, the former Director of Instrumental Music at Brisbane Girls Grammar School and nationally renowned conductor and educator. Selected students performed a short solo for the class and Mr Sullivan, and received feedback on their technique, musicality and expression in their playing. Mr Sullivan was very impressed with the high level of performance. Congratulations to those students who performed in our first masterclass!
13.01.2022 PERFORMING ARTS - CHOIR UPDATE Despite having to split their choir into two groups to comply with social distancing rules, Vocal Harmony have enjoyed taking time to focus on singing technique and repertoire with Miss Eadie each week before enjoying some musicianship challenges and singing games with Miss McIntyre.
12.01.2022 MUSIC EXCELLENCE CONCERT Last night we held the final performance for our Music Excellence (MEX) students. These students participate in an additional music lesson each Friday, focusing on extending and enriching their skills. The concert last night was simply amazing and demonstrated the wealth of talent the students at our school have. Their dedication to rehearsals and home practice, shone through last night.... Congratulations to all of the students and the teaching team on MEX, Mr Mossley, Miss McIntyre and Miss Eadie.

09.01.2022 Band & Choir Camp Update Band & Choir Camp is fast approaching, now scheduled for Sunday 11th October to Tuesday 13th October. All students that had returned permission slips and had paid for camp in Term 1 are attending. More information regarding the updated schedule for the camp will be emailed home soon. I f your child is attending the Brisbane State High School Academic Selection Exam on the Sunday, please ensure you notify us via the return slip by the Wednesday of Week 1. Chamber Choir (pictured below) can't wait to enjoy lots of learning, singing and fun over the three days!

09.01.2022 STAFF CHANGES @ MAC G As we wind up Term 3 we have some staffing changes for Term 4. Thanks to Mrs Birbilis who has been Acting Deputy Principal for most of this year on Years 3,4,5 & 6. Mrs Birbilis will be returning to her role as Pedagogical Coach during Term 4.... We welcome back Mrs Lenarduzzi to the role Deputy Principal for Years 5 & 6 and Miss Scott who is returning to MacGregor in the role of Head of Curriculum for Years 5 & 6. Mrs Fox and Mrs Kalokerinos will also be back teaching in the school during Term 4, helping to support the transition of our new Prep students into our school community. We say farewell to Mrs Wong from the LET team who has worked across a number of year levels during her time with us and welcome Mrs Kirby to the LET team who will be working with the classes in Prep & Year 1. Mrs Daly will be on leave during Term 4 and will be replaced by Mrs Vascotto.

08.01.2022 SWIMMING @ MAC G Students from Prep & Years 1, 3 & 5 will be participating in the swimming program in Term 4 during PE lessons. All students will need swimmers, a sun safe shirt, bathing cap and towel, all clearly labelled and in a seperate bag on their swimming day. A timetable will be emailed home to parents this week.

06.01.2022 INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC - STRINGS Enrichment Groups within the String Program this year are the Violin Ensemble and the Cello Ensemble. This term the groups have been working at their ensemble playing. The Violin Ensemble has successfully made a number of good video recordings of their work this term. They are currently enjoying playing some ragtime music by Scott Joplin. Macgregor Strings Orchestra is reminded that morning practice resumes on the first day back at school in term ...4 - Tuesday 6th October. We wish to highlight there is an ongoing outbreak with higher than usual notifications and detection of norovirus during the month. Some key points are the need for Prevention: ... Note that hand sanitisers are less effective against norovirus compared to soap and water Breaking transmission: exclusion for 48 hours after the last symptom to prevent transmission of norovirusIdentification: norovirus infections are generally rapid and resolve very quickly. Symptoms may be as mild as 2 episodes of vomiting or diarrhoea Confirmation: whilst unwell collection of stool for test confirmation is important to monitor the outbreak. If your child is suffering from any symptoms of gastroenteritis please let us know. Please contact the school office if you require any further clarification.
