11.01.2022 Our beautiful friend is sculpted from white mahogany originally from Broke. This lizard looking creature with platypus facial features is called Kuwana (koo war nar) meaning mythical creature. He overlooks and protects our Yarning Circle. There are stories that many years ago on Awabakal land and later the waters known as Winding Creek at Cardiff was home to a healthy platypus population. Kuwana reminds of this heritage.

09.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 8-15 Nov Always was, Always will be NAIDOC Week recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this land for over 65,000 years.... Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities when they share aspects of their culture with the other children and educators. Children are born belonging to a culture, which is not only influenced by traditional practices, heritage and ancestral knowledge, but also by the experiences, values and beliefs of individual families and communities. Respecting diversity means valuing and reflecting the practices, values and beliefs of our families.

07.01.2022 Pearl attended MHCPS three years ago. Her Labrador Thor was the inspiration for her story and her grandmother illustrated the book. Thank you for sharing your work Pearl. We have watched a video of Pearl and her Grandmother reading Thor My Labrador. So inspired, our Rainbow friends are now writing their own stories about the animals they love.
