05.01.2022 Sitting down and reflecting on the year, it really is amazing to think of everything the team has achieved. We kicked it off with State Titles in the Sunshine Coast starting a good winning streak. Following it up with something a bit different in Tin Can Bay - bringing home some more trophies. ... The Townsville regatta let us get 2 more sweeps into our mix and maybe even one more win! Again for something a bit different some of the team headed out to central Qld and paddled collectively over 15km in the day. What Champions Finishing the year of with a Regatta in the Gold Coast our team powered through and came home with even more success. A year of hard work and commitment paying off for everyone with bigger and better things to come next year! Already booked in are State Titles and for some of the squad Aus Champs I’m sure coach is going to whip us all into shape after enjoying this holiday period!! See you all on Sunday 9th January for the first training session of the year

15.12.2021 Better late than never! Here is a small snapshot of the team (joint with others to make the Southern Star Warriors) for the Gold Coast regatta in November. Make sure to send us a message if you want to come give this awesome sport a go

02.12.2021 What an adventurous Christmas party this year. Started with a local Mackay Amazing Race Car Rally where teams ventured our local area taking photo evidence of all the destinations along the way. Team rivalry, big smiles and so much enjoyment made us all winners in the end! Followed this up with a mighty feast and some more games - everyone loves getting presents ... And finished it off devouring a delicious dessert table. A great way to end the year with team mates and friends! Ps. Photos are just a little snippet as we had so many to chose from

13.11.2021 Little snippet of the team at the recent Gold Coast regatta. Still hoping for some more clips to come. https://mimo.skypixel.com/videos/mackay-stingers

27.10.2021 With the excitement of the weekend starting to subside and the reality of work starts to hit, our Stingers family get to reflect on what an amazing time we had. First up we had the Around the Island race with our members being split up between 2 teams. Team Green coming in first with Team Black coming in a close second (only 0.5 of a second splitting us apart). Short break and then into the 100m sprints. Our crew gave it all and although we didn’t make it to the major final ...we won the minor final and secured us the runners up trophy! With such a successful weekend and discussions of this mini regatta returning, Stingers are hoping we can return again next year. Gold Coast Dragonboat Club did a fantastic job! Ps. Hoping to have some short videos of the day coming soon. Watch this space!

12.10.2021 Some of the Stinger family have travelled down to the lovely Gold Coast to join up with Lakers, Cairns, Manly and Redcliffe to create the Southern Star Warriors! We are looking forward to a different kind of regatta with a 4.7km around the island race and some fast paced 100m sprints. Hoping for some good weather, lots of laughs and more memories of Stingers coming together and having a fabulous time!!

24.09.2021 Come on down to Bunnings Northside for a sausage prepared by our wonderful members

21.08.2021 Thank you so much to the Stinger family and an even bigger thank you to all the come and try paddlers. Without you all, today would not have been the massive success that it was. 27 new paddlers and 2 completely full boats is a record for our little club and we hope we see you all again! We are thankful to Mackay Regional Council for allowing us to be part of the #trythe5 initiative. So many more things to try for the month of October and we are always open to anyone who wants to give this amazing sport a go!

07.08.2021 What’s that - it’s nearly Sunday already?! Come and try Sunday 10 October - 7am - Mackay Marina (down from the breakwater restaurant). Video below is the warm up paddle before a race at our state championships held each year. ... #trythe5

05.08.2021 Now don’t forget next Sunday - 10 October at 7am - Mackay Marina - we have our come and try day! Now we understand some people may have some questions so here are some FAQ’s: Q: Where do we paddle? ... A: In the marina, meeting underneath the breakwater cafe and heading down to the water from there - no we do not venture past the break wall! Q: What if I have bad knees? A: Good news, as long as you can get to the boat on the sand you can paddle! All fitness and experience levels are welcome. Q: What do I need to bring? A: A positive attitude, smile, hat, clothes that can get wet and a water bottle. We recommend sunscreen before you arrive and don’t worry we have paddles for all new comers. Q: Will crocs or sharks get us? A: We like to stay in the boat and don’t swim unless you really want to back at the sand. And if we do ever capsize hopefully the rest of the crew look tastier than you If there are any other questions please don’t hesitate to contact. So remember next Sunday come down for a fun morning and try something new! #trythe5
