25.01.2022 ***Saturday Meeting Update*** If any ladies are still interested in attending our Mackay Breast Cancer Support Group monthly meeting, scheduled for this Saturday, and you haven't yet replied to me, or clicked Going on the event, I have just added a second session at 12pm, if you would still like to come along. So, if you've been meaning to come but haven't felt up to it, or are not a social person, now's the time to come along and meet some other ladies who are on the same j...ourney as you, and either have breast cancer, or have survived breast cancer. We have reached our limit of 10 people for the 9am session. No need to bring picnic blanket, as we will stay indoors. 12pm session won't have the nurses attending, but I will relay their updates and discussion points. If you would like to attend the 12pm session, please comment on this post, and click Going on the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/201190234604101/ Thanks and I'd love to see you there on Saturday. 14.01.2022 Today, I feel blessed to to be running this support group for ladies affected by breast cancer. Today we held our monthly support group meeting and we were lucky enough to have the McGrath breast care nurses, Liz Drefke and Karen Linich, attend to talk about how they help breast cancer patients. We also had Deb from Wellness With Deb along, letting us know about her fitting services for mastectomy garments and prostheses. ... It’s great to know that we have the support of these experienced nurses and an experienced bra fitting specialist, to help us when we need it. It was a wonderful meeting, with three new faces. We all openly shared and discussed our journeys. Everyone took a lot away from each others’ stories and we realised we have so many things in common on this journey. This was our first meeting at our new location at the Botanical Gardens meeting room and what a beautiful room it is. Unfortunately, the power was out and I would like to thank Liz for popping home and bringing us back some hot water so we could make morning tea cuppas. So beautiful of you to do that for us, thank you Liz. Our next event is on Tuesday 21st July for an informal coffee catch up. Xoxoxoxo Cath
13.01.2022 Sharing this photo again. One of the ladies who attended our first support group meeting in October last year, left these pink glasses behind. If they're yours, please let me know. Robyn Mitchell Did you want to share to the dragons page, because we had a few of your ladies attend our launch in Oct?
12.01.2022 Yesterday, we had a lovely Mackay breast cancer monthly support group catch up at the botanical gardens. We were lucky enough to have Libby from In-Motion Chiropractic come along and talk to us about lymphoedema and other physiological effects of breast cancer treatments. Thanks ladies, for joining in and sharing your journey. We truly help each other when we share what we’ve been through as it helps each other to know that we are not alone in this journey. ...
