24.01.2022 In a fitting finale to the Mackay Cycling Club’s road racing season, the biggest field of the year turned out in force to race the Bryan Single Memorial. The la...te Bryan Single was a stalwart of the Mackay Cycling Club and tragically passed away in 2004. Alex Bogna claimed fastest time, just pipping Craig Larsen. Alex heads off to University next year and will continue his cycling career with Avantis Pro Racing. Mackay Cycling Club wishes Alex all the best in his racing development. Race results and the full story in Mackay and Whitsunday Life.

17.01.2022 SPONSORSHIP ALERT! No introduction needed of this couple around the Mackay Track Cycling scene! Nell and her husband Russ are always the first to put their hands up to help out. Nell obtained a grant for the club last year for a new BBQ, as a photographer she's always capturing our best moments to share.... Her husband's business Thomsett Group is a supplier of a range of machinery. Russ is a fitter and auto electrician by trade. They are supplying the light tower that we use at the finish line to illuminate the track better. Nell will be taking photos of the action and they will both be cheering on their kids, Eli and Millie who is our youngest competitor. Thanks Nell and Russ for all you do for the club. Please show your support by liking their Facebook pages - Photos By Nell and Thomsett Group.

16.01.2022 Results are in!!! See you all again in 2021, the road season will kick off again late Feb. For now, just ride your bike.

16.01.2022 UPDATED PROGRAM - PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO WHEELRACE CATEGORIES Hi all, Below is an updated track carnival program.... The main changes have been to introduce another junior wheelrace category as we ended up with late entries that made one of our races too big. This has effectively changed all wheelraces but we think this will create a more even spread of riders across all races and means more kids will go home with a trophy. Handicaps and grades are in the process of being finalised and will be published tomorrow. Our wonderful sponsors have now also been updated on the program, a few of which we are still yet to announce :)

14.01.2022 Welcome to 2021 where we're BACK ON TRACK! Mackay will be well represented this weekend across all grades with Hamish Wright, Tamlin Giles, Greg Shaw, and the father-and-son duo of Harry and David O'Connell. Best of luck to our riders!

14.01.2022 The cycling club is chasing volunteers to assist with the road stage leg of the Zach Mach. Please help by registering through their Volunteer Page.

13.01.2022 Today the Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held at Harrup Park Country Club. Thank you to those members who attended the meeting. During the AGM all committee positions were declared vacant, nominations were called for each position. President - Geoffrey Ney was nominated and accepted, vote was carried. Vice President - no nominations received Treasurer - Karen Watt was nominated and accepted, vote was carried... Secretary - no nominations received. At this point we don't have a committee for the club and unless we fill all positions the club will have to fold. if you would like to help out with the running of this great club, please let us know. if there is anyone who would also like to help out with the club without an offical position we would love to hear from you. I would also like to thank Amanda and Hamish Wright for their contribution to the club as committee members for the last couple of years, without them especially during a turbulent 2020 we would be a lot worse off. 07.01.2022 AusCycling Update: Today history was made, a new era of cycling was formed. From today, cycling has the most significant growth potential of any sport in Austra...lia. Together, Mountain Bike, BMX, Road and Track will come together to get more people riding, racing and watching the sport of cycling. We will look to provide one voice for all riders throughout Australia, advocating for infrastructure, and safer cycling conditions for all. At the Cycling Australia Special General Meeting today 6 out of the 8 States voted in favour of joining AusCycling, which provided the 75% necessary for Road and Track to join MTBA and BMXA in the formation of AusCycling. Thank you to all the Members and Clubs throughout Australia that supported this movement. Thank you to Duncan Murray, Steve Drake and the Team from Cycling Australia for their leadership in this endeavour. Together we are stronger, together cycling can make a difference and secure the future of our great sport for generations to come. Love Bear, Sean Muir and the Board of Cycling Queensland Michael Saunders, Dyane Hannan, Andrew James, Alison Walsh, Stephen Loadsman and Damien McFarline.

07.01.2022 Hello all members, following on from my last message about needing a Vice President and a Secretary for the committee, we have had interest from a member to fill the Vice President role, however we have had no interest for the secretary role, if you would like to help keep this club running please let me know. If we don’t fill all positions the club may have to fold. This is a great club with a lot of exciting talent within its members, lets keep it going. If we can get a nom...ination for the secretary position we will hold a special AGM to hold a vote for the positions. Thanks Geoff Ney MCC President
