That said there are some areas where property prices are much lower than they were 10 years ago which includes Mackay Isaac Whitsunday where unit median prices are back to 2006, check out the Core Logic work. This is a wake up call for the region. It is widely reported Mackay is the 18th largest city in Australia however there are 77 cities which have higher median house prices. 21.01.2022 well Covid 19 continues to ramp up. The real issue remains personal hygiene is everyones responsibility. Everyone needs to do their bit as lives will be lost There are so many unknowns ie long term impacts on health, chance of reinfection and how far away is a cure? Economically there will be few winners, however primary producers and personal protective manufacturers will see increased demand.... The social cost/change is starting to face reality with our previous extrovert lifestyles now changing. Mental health and poor personal behaviour will be challenged as people are forced to isolate. As for Mackay, food and mining are likely to hold up provided stringent hygiene is implemented. Most other sectors will significantly shrink in the short to medium term. Stay Safe

18.01.2022 Well we are now facing a new seismic shift in the fear level of people, wealth shift and recalibrate resilience. Pain for all, time to reset the paradigm of cheap cheap cheap, to manage risk which has a short term cost and long term benefit. Remember personal hygiene is the key. Do not rely on Govt or the health system as it will be overloaded. Good idea for regions to invite people to move from the big cities to the regions where there will be much less crowding, internet access is good hence can conquer the world in the regions. FEAR -false expectations appear real.

13.01.2022 A few lessons Covid 19 has taught us; 'Just in time' in the business world now needs added, 'just in case' nature has a way that wisdom cannot predict... we must turn covid 19 outcomes into positive changes the Mackay Region needs to change, what if coal demand drops, what if international tourism does not return for many months, what if life does not return to the way it was when the going gets tough the tough get going - is this pandemic tough enough to change the region???

13.01.2022 There are too many 'self elected' experts in this crisis. Time for the population to heed the Government direction. Singapore, Japan and Taiwan have shown by example the result of discipline. Time for the Mackay Region to take the crisis SERIOUSLY hence reduce the damage to people and livelihoods. Forget selfish behaviour and act as a society. The cost of not heeding the above is just too great in both human and monetary terms.

11.01.2022 Well another new year starts tomorrow. What has changed in Mackay?? Great rain to end the year, the envy of the rest of Australia, Well according to GW3 the economy is back to $22B AUD, same as in 2011 however the AUD/USD was on par so in real terms backwards over 40%. Coal prices are now causing the miners to take some steps to trim spending with coking coal back to $130usd per tonne where as in the past $200 USD, Sugar prices in the doldrums, drought huge impact on agribusi...ness. Tourism as usual takes a back seat to mining incomes. Great news Qantas flying school to commence, new aquatic centre, ring road progressing however as usual what's missing is private sector investment in changing the economy from mining to the new paradigm. 01.01.2022 Westpac bank became the third major to announce an end to thermal coal projects post 2030, IE 10 years time it will be very difficult to get money in the thermal coal supply chain, how long till the same happens for coking coal given there are already alternatives to coking coal when making steel? Wake up Mackay region, relying on coal for 50% of the economy is destined to change. WHAT WILL REPLACE COAL MINING??????
