13.01.2022 We recently saw this post circulating in Australia. While it seems it could be an effective control when it is in place. But in place is the problem as it is a manual effort and humans are lazy. So it is not an effective control. A compliant pool fence and self closing gate is the best solution to prevent ACCESS. Pool safety net could be used as an additional control but not the primary control. 04.01.2022 Very concerning 2 toddlers have accessed a pool. We have no idea how this happens but for us the weakest link is, gates. So many times the gates fail the just open test. Hold the gate about ~100mm from just open and softly let it go. Also take note if the gate is either ver close to other parts, touching or catching particularly around the catch. Plus get rid of the rocks, sticks, ties or whatever you have been using to lock the gate open - we lots of photos of these items.
