22.01.2022 Today marks the end to our Vinnies Winter Appeal a huge thank you to all the generous people who donated clothes and blankets to the appeal. On Monday, students would have seen some volunteers who were positioned around the school representing what people sleeping rough could look like. We hoped to prompt conversations and awareness of the difficulties of homelessness. Our silent students had varied experiences, with some students offering support, while other students struggled with knowing appropriate ways to deal with what they were seeing. Students were given the opportunity to debrief this experience in some of their classes this week. Thanks to those students who participated.

21.01.2022 Yesterday was Social Justice Sunday. Read the Social Justice Statement "To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today": https://bit.ly/SocialJustic...e_2020 The Bishops observe that our society tends to draw away from, or to push away, those who confront us with our frailties and limitations which is completely at odds with the story of Jesus who takes on the frailty of the human condition and draws near to those who are sick or who have disabilities, those who are marginalized or despised. People living with mental ill-health are part of the Body of Christ us and not them and share equally in Jesus promise of the fullness of life (Jn 10:10). See more

10.01.2022 If you think this looks like a tasty milo, think again! This mixture of water, milk, oil, plastic, salts, soil, coffee, drinking chocolate, tissues, and sand is actually simulated sewage. As part of an investigation into sewage treatment processes, Year 11 Earth and Environmental Science will be applying a variety of separation techniques to this mixture over the next few days to see how much they can clean it up before it is released into a local stream.

06.01.2022 ARTEXPRESS is an annual exhibition featuring a selection of outstanding student artworks developed for the artmaking component of the HSC examination in Visual Arts in NSW. This year, Sierra Cummins was nominated and then selected for inclusion in ARTEXPRESS. Sierra's approach to artmaking this year was as simple as it was effective. She chose a medium she was skilled in and an idea that she felt strongly about and was current. Sierra made the most of her study periods, lunch...times and class prac lessons to chip away at the resolution of her idea. She overcame significant issues along the way and with her flawless dedication was able to produce this stunning watercolour study. Sierra's work will be on exhibition in Grafton and Armidale in 2021. Congratulations Sierra! Title: Resilient. Watercolour on Paper. Sierra's work explores the impact of recent fires on the landscape. There are elements of strength, destruction, regeneration, regrowth and beauty enduring the elements.

06.01.2022 This week was Science Week and to celebrate, our students had the opportunity to participate in an Escape Room. The escape room involved 10 challenges that students had to complete within 45 minutes. The theme for Science Week this year was Deep Blue so all challenges were to do with the ocean. As crew in a submerged research vessel, students completed a series of challenges in order to switch to the emergency battery and turn the lights back on. Along the way, they learnt about ocean exploration and innovations for the future of our oceans. To solve each challenge, they needed to draw on their scientific knowledge from a range of different disciplines.

02.01.2022 Sierra may have been surprised at her inclusion in ARTEXPRESS, but her talent and dedication is what got her there. After hearing of her selection, she sent us these words. "To be honest it feels quite surreal to have been selected as I never considered it to be on the cards. I’m now ‘one of those people’ who I admired on my own excursion to ArtExpress! I put in a lot of hard work and time but at the end of the day, I enjoyed the process because it was my calm amongst the sto...rm of other HSC stresses. I would not have reached this point in my art without the inspiration and nurturing from Mr. Beddoe over what has now been four years of Art with him - he is one of those teachers that you can tell genuinely loves what he’s doing and that reflects in his students, so a big thankyou to him. I will take this achievement as motivation to embrace this passion I have. I think watercolour will remain as something special to me throughout my life" See more
