25.01.2022 BLACKFORD-AVENUE RANGE FIRE RECOVERY BlazeAid Meeting - Wednesday 27/1/21 @ 6.30pm There will be a meeting hosted by Naracoorte Lucindale Council, with BlazeA...id, Lucindale Lions Club, and farmers and landowners affected by the fires, next Wednesday 27/1/21 at Lucindale Hall starting at 6.30pm to discuss what help can be provided for farmers and landowners with their recovery after the fires. There will be a sausage sizzle and refreshments on the night. BlazeAid will be setting up camp at Yakka Park, Lucindale, as from next week to help farmers with fencing requirements. Its volunteers will be assisting with the pulling down of old fences and erection of new fences. Mary Howarth, the camp coordinator, will be there to answer questions about how BlazeAid can assist farmers. 14.01.2022 For most barley growers in high rainfall areas, waterlogging occurs, on average, one in every five seasons, reducing yields by about 20%. A waterlogging tolerance gene has been discovered in a wild-type barley and preliminary trials show the tolerance gene may lift yields.

Trees For Life (SA) has funding through a Smart Farm Sm...all Grant for landholders to plant new paddock trees and protect existing trees on their properties. Research has found that paddock trees are declining in the south-east of SA and there’s a lack of a new generation of trees. Paddock trees provide important benefits to agriculture including shade and shelter for stock. They also provide crucial feeding and nesting habitat for many species including the endangered South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo.
