24.01.2022 Greetings on this rather cold and rainy day. We hope everyone is keeping well! Today is Aged Care Employee Day. On behalf of our parish family we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the caring professionals who look after the millions of elderly Australians. We truly value each and every one of the aged care workers and volunteers. We thank you for all your hard work and dedication, and we pray for you especially this week. Today is also Australian Prim...ary Principal's Day 2020. You may like to see the latest on the Facebook site of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, https://www.facebook.com/stjosephskempsey. There is a nice image with these lovely words: We are blessed to have Mr Guy Campbell as our Principal leading St Joseph's Catholic Primary School into the future, advocating for our community and creating better opportunities for our students. This week’s resources include resources for this Sunday and the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary. https://www.mvcp.org.au//19th-Sunday-OT-YEAR-A-Resources.p This weekend’s parish news is at: https://www.mvcp.org.au/wp-cont//2020/08/9-August-2020.pdf God bless and stay safe!

23.01.2022 In this week’s parish newsletter we share with you the wonderful initiatives of St Joseph’s Kempsey students in responding to Pope Francis’ invitation for young people to ‘send a hug’ to the elderly, especially those in nursing homes, by sending a message of encouragement such as through a letter or card. There’s also information about the reopening of Willawarrin and Crescent Head churches. 19.01.2022 Today we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Canonisation of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. We give thanks for all the many blessings we have received through her intercession. We are invited to reflect on the qualities and actions that set St Mary MacKillop apart, and how her legacy continues to be relevant today. We can certainly learn a lot from her experiences for our own daily lives. 15.01.2022 Today, on this Feast Day of Mary Mother of the Church, it is with great joy that we share with you the news that public Masses are back. Seating is limited to 50 people, however Fr James will be offering some extra Masses to accommodate as many people as possible. At all Masses we need to record the names and phone number or email address of all attendees, and to avoid disappointment we encourage people to register for weekend Masses by phoning the parish office. Our Kempsey ...and SWR Churches have been marked out with yellow spots to ensure physical distancing and we are able to meet all hygiene requirements. 15.01.2022 Yesterday evening, on the Feast Day of St Pope Paul VI, SWR Church was reopened and we held our first private Mass there. Thank you to all who have participated in private Masses and prayer this week in our churches. Although the media have reported an impending further easing of restrictions, these have yet to be gazetted. Until we receive further guidance from the government and bishop later this week, the current arrangements remain. This weekend we celebrate Pentecost Su...nday, which is often referred to as the birthday of the Church. Like those gathered in the Upper Room who were filled with the life-giving and life-transforming power of the Spirit, we as Church are many cultures, languages and backgrounds. Although we cannot gather like we did last year when we shared a multicultural morning tea, to celebrate the unity in diversity of our parish family, our Sunday livestream Mass will include Prayers of the Faithful in different languages and we have displayed the flags of many different countries in the Kempsey Church. Let us continue to pray for our nation and world, all those affected by the virus, and for an end to this virus. 07.01.2022 Today our Kempsey Church reopened for private Mass (max 10 people) and private prayer time (max 10 people at any one time). It was truly a blessed and joyous occasion on the Feast Day of St Philip Neri who was known for his love of people and his joy and good humour. A special thank you to our Parish staff and Parish Pastoral Council members for their hard work and support as we reopened in accordance with health and safety precautions. Let us continue to pray for and support each other, especially praying for an end to this virus!

07.01.2022 Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day. We celebrate and give thanks for all the hardworking and dedicated primary, secondary and early childhood teachers throughout the world, especially here in the Macleay Valley. Our parish family is especially proud of our local teachers at St Paul’s Catholic Secondary College, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and St Joseph’s Out of School Hours Care, as well as all our parishioners committed to the vocation of teaching. Enjoy your special day and thank you for making our world a better place!

03.01.2022 It’s been great catching up with so many people since we returned to public Masses last week. This week’s parish newsletter includes a special insert highlighting some of our parish family’s ministry and outreach over the last few months. We continue to encourage people to participate in Bishop Greg’s Livestream Mass available each Sunday through the Diocesan Youtube page. The weekly viewing now exceeds 15,000 people from all over the world. 03.01.2022 We hope this week has been a great one for everyone! We continue to pray for rain for our farmers and all those who need it most. We also continue to pray for all HSC students sitting their exams. Yesterday evening, the NSW Government gazetted a new regulation for the number of people permitted in places of worship. It reads as follows:... ‘to allow gatherings of up to 300 persons at places of public worship and for religious services if there is at least 4 metres of space for each person on the premises’ Since the 4m2 rule still applies, there are no changes for our parish churches. All existing protocols continue. In this week’s parish news we include a short article about Carlo Acutis: The first millennial to be declared Blessed.
