25.01.2022 G’day Eagles Our T20 game on Tuesday went right down to the wire, but unfortunately we couldn’t get over the line. Heidelberg West chased our total down in the 20th over in a nailbiter. A great knock from young gun Harrison Preiss with an unbeaten 51 helped us to our total. 24.01.2022 The Macleod Committee are excited to announce the appointment of our new Senior Captain/Coach for 2020/21 - Nick Lynch. Nick began his accomplished cricket career as a Macleod Junior and went on to represent both Victoria & Australia at Junior level. In senior cricket he has played Victorian Premier First XI cricket with Northcote, and was an important member of Macleod’s first Barclay Shield premiership in 2016/17. Nick also brings extensive coaching experience to the role, and will be instrumental in developing the next generation of Eagles to ensure our continued success on & off the field.

21.01.2022 Hi Eagles Round 1 is less than a week away, with matches to commence this weekend - Saturday 14th November. The DVCA have released the fixtures for our 1s & 2s on MyCricket, with the 3s & 4s as well as Juniors still to come. It is important for all players to familiarise themselves with the DVCA COVID Guidelines found here https://mycricketadmin.cricket.com.au//dvca%20covid%20matc... While there may be warnings, umpires can impose 5 run penalties (or ladder point penalties for repeated breaches) around the match ball. Another important point is that there will be no shared lunches provided. Players will need to bring their own food for the Tea break or (if the council allows us to open) purchase from the Canteen. While none of this is ideal, it is a great effort that we have a season happening given where we were at a couple of months ago. Hope to see some great numbers through training again this week leading into Round 1 remember to make sure you’ve let Lynchy know which sessions you can attend.

20.01.2022 Finally, we announce our club's major awards for the season. Our Club Champion (awarded to the player who has contributed the most on field based on Runs, Wickets & Fielding stats) and Jack Ford Trophy for the best First XI player. No surprises here, it is another clean sweep for the Wise family! There's not a lot left to say... a pair of Champions!

19.01.2022 Next up, the 3rd XI playing in F1 grade. After racking up bowling awards year after year Jamie decided his leg was too sore to bowl and would put himself up the order and win a batting average. What a cricketer... And of course it wouldn't be a presentation night without a trophy for Chippa. He takes out the Bowling Award, which by my count is his 16th averages trophy!

19.01.2022 This year, more so than ever, its important that all players get their Subs in as early as possible to help with the expenses of getting up & running. If you get your subs paid early (by the end of Round 2 on 22nd November) you are eligible for a $75 discount. This year we have more options for payment to make it as easy as possible 1. In person at the club either with Cash or Card/Pay pass at the Till 2. Via Cricket Victoria (https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club...-details). You will need to select the appropriate membership & pay with a Credit Card. For this you will need to know your MyCricket ID and login details. 3. If getting it paid early is not an option, we now have a facility to setup a Direct Debit and pay in regular instalments (this does attract some small fees). They are receiving increasing numbers of calls from community members and workers looking to access food and other items. They are meeting these needs through a combination of donations (from individuals and organisations) and purchasing of goods. Unfortunately the demand is outgrowing their ability to reliably meet the needs, and ...they expect that demand will increase over the coming months as the financial impact of local job losses due to Covid is realised. Nick Lynch is organizing our training schedule, which at this stage is likely to change week-to-week before hopefully settling down. This week we will be training Wednesday & Thursday evenings at Macleod Park. To comply with restrictions we’ll be having two time slots and it’s important that you get in touch with Lynchy (directly or via this account) if you plan to attend and let him know which se...ssion you will attend so we can manage numbers. The times are: 4:30pm - 5:45pm 5:50pm - 7:00pm We will also be in touch via the club mailing list with our detailed COVID plans. These will be advertised on signage at the club, and include requirements such as signing in/out of the club, cleaning any shared equipment & social distancing rules. It is important all members help in ensuring we’re safe as we get back to playing cricket.

10.01.2022 Unfortunately Cricket Victoria has contacted all local clubs and requested that all end of year social events and functions including Presentations to be postponed till further notice. This means unfortunately our Junior Cricket Presentation that was scheduled for this Sunday 22nd March will not be going ahead. The club will be in contact in the near future to discuss either another presentation date when we are able to all come together safely or other arrangement with individual teams.

An Eagle through & through, Thommo has played for MCC since his junior days including several stints in the first XI. He has also been a fixture on the committee, having held positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer over the years.... Congratulations Rhys!

09.01.2022 At the end of last season COVID cost us our chance to celebrate the best performances of the 19/20 season, forcing us to cancel presentation night. With our AGM & season launch this Friday, throughout the week we'll be virtually announcing all the trophy winners from last year to celebrate our best performed Eagles!

01.01.2022 Tonight we acknowledge some Eagles who have made a special contribution to the Nest throughout the season. Firstly, Jai Swainger receives the President's Award. A relatively new committee member, Jai has been keen to get involved and help out wherever needed. Always passionate, and an Eagle pretty much since he could walk, the words 'future prez' have been thrown around (mostly by Jai). Harrison Preiss takes out the Pete Frost award for the Best U18 player for the second year... in a row. While still playing Juniors (and winning the U16 batting award), Harry also managed 5 games of first XI cricket. We are excited to see how he develops. The best Clubman award goes to Liam. He has recently taken on the job of Treasurer, and put in hours of work to transition our accounting to a new & improved system, and automate our bar & canteen sales. Finally, the Coaches Award goes to Dan Kovac. A great year on the park, his contributions with both bat & ball giving him 4th place in the Club Champion. Always working on his game at training, and getting involved coaching the juniors - he's the kind of guy that makes the Nest a better place. Great work Kovs!
