22.01.2022 Races today Strathalbyn and our day starts with Gondolier in race 1 . Looks like he gets a good chance to win here but he has seemed to run into one better so many times now!!! Still I expect he should run well. Race 3 and we have Bewdy Mate making his race debut. From a street Cry mare he is likely to need a longer race but this is certainly a good race to start him off and he has shown enough to be competitive. Race 8 sees Holy Sangria who is ready to win but is faced with the outside starting gate so that does create a problem, nonetheless another who I expect to run well. In summation then all three have a nice each way chance but none are certainties! With crowds allowed back at the races though it should be a good day out

22.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all from us at MacMillan Racing . We look forward to the new year and the chance for our owners to again be able to visit the stable and watch your horses work. At the races we look forward to being able to enjoy the day with you again as we move into the new year and hopefully to many more winners together! Enjoy the festive season everyone

20.01.2022 Good day at the races yesterday with Two winners ( Stryke In Style and The Haitian Poet) and a second ( Gondolier) from only 4 runners. The other( Holy Sangria...)simply over races so I will work our what to do about that !! Still good results and all have recovered well . Congratulations to all owners and thank you for your ongoing support. Also thanks to Karl Zechner and Kayla Crowther and Todd Pannell and Jeff Maund who all gave their respective mounts great rides. My job is much easier when I don’t have to worry about what the jockeys are doing! Also thanks to my staff yesterday Caitlin Rothwell and Mëls Thømãs. Only a midweek meeting at Strathalbyn but I love racing and I love winning. Btw both horse photos courtesy of Atkins Photos and the crowd photo rising sun photos ( thanks guys) See more

19.01.2022 MacMillan Racing is looking for an apprentice Jockey to join our small and friendly team. We are located at Finniss SA Ideally the successful applicant will have experience with racehorses but this is not a prerequisite! We do support our apprentices with teaching, mentoring and with riding opportunities. In return we expect dedication and a willingness to listen and care for horses as well as the ability to work as a part of our team. Please e mail applications to [email protected]

18.01.2022 Busy Day at Strathalbyn races today. Starting in race 4 with Gondolier who has come on nicely since his first up second. Then race 5 Lohn Ranger has a better barrier than when he was third last start . Race 6 sees Stryke In Style from barrier 1 which is not ideal for him but combines again with Multiple group 1 winning jockey Todd Pannell ( who has ridden him twice for two wins so far) so he should be able to deal with that. Finally in race 9 we have The Haitian Poet hoping for a little luck ! The track is perfect and the club has very sensibly put plenty of water on in the last few days so should remain that way despite the hot weather. Unfortunately connections cannot attend due to the recent covid in SA but they can watch on the television so I hope they all enjoy a good days racing and wish them good luck

17.01.2022 BRAVO! Here is a REPUBLICAN who gets it! Follow Occupy Democrats for more.

14.01.2022 Thanks to the crowd today majority pre-booked and allocated seating. Great to share a win with connections of MacMillan Racing Stryke in Style celebrating the last race of the day. John also successful in race 2 with The Haitian Poet.

14.01.2022 Finished work yesterday and decided to play in the river. Here strapper Jack Kirkbride is on one tube while my Nephew Kobe and his mate Oliver are on the other

13.01.2022 Hannah riding Henry The Bruce on the inside and me on Briabella on our sand track at home.

10.01.2022 Sandown Guineas today so a Photo here of Edgewood. I put it up because he finished 4 th in the sandown guineas some 8 years ago after missing the start by 8 lengths We were sent him later ( because he kept missing the start) and he won 5 races for us and he still lives here . He does go to the races sometimes as a companion and sometimes gets ridden by myself or Hannah . Mostly though he just wanders around looking majestic!

09.01.2022 Busy day today at Morphetville with Macmillan racing having 4 runners starting in race 4 then 5 then 6 then 9 Good luck for all of the connections of these horses. Good luck also to our former apprentice and golden girl Jamie Kah as she rides Prince of Arran In the Melbourne Cup

03.01.2022 Love getting these updates from people who have taken on our tb's after they have retired from racing. This mare (with the small star) is 'Kitty' who raced as THE LONE RANGA. No superstar on the track, she only won 1 race from 9 starts but she is living the good life in NSW now. He paddock is alongside a retirement village and her and her friend do the rounds to each resident every morning for carrots and apples.
