25.01.2022 Thanks for saying no to a bag. To date, our customers have refused over 554,000 retail bags, allowing us to do more good through the Macpac Fund for Good. . . A while ago, we made the change to paper retail bags in our stores and started the 'Refuse a Bag' initiative, donating 20 cents to the Macpac Fund for Good every time customers say no to a retail bag. This fund is then used to support awesome local initiatives that are committed to creating long-term change, for the good of our people and planet. Thanks for being a part of the change. Some of the amazing organisations we have supported include: Whenua Iti, Te Waiariki Purea Trust, Birdlife Australia, Stepping Stone House and Out there Kowanyama
22.01.2022 Staff Picks for Summer (Part 1) The Mica Dress | Here at Macpac, it’s safe to say we’re a little obsessed with gear. As outdoor lovers, we take every opportunity to test our product out there, in the environment it was meant for...and make sure it stands up to the rigours of an outside life whether it’s splashing in swimming holes, camping, tramping, exploring, bike commuting and more. . The Mica Dress is your one dress for summer adventures! Made from lightweight stret...ch fabric that dries quickly, the Mica Dress has a simple feminine cut and thoughtful details such as a zipped pocked in the side seam for small items like lip balm, deeper pockets for other essentials and most importantly, celebrates freedom of movement when you’re out and about. I love the lightness of the fast-drying, stretch fabric which inconspicuously deals with the uphill sweat build up. It doesn’t bunch or ride up in an unflattering way, nor do I overheat or get chilled by sweat-soaked fabric plus, I like the simple, feminine cut and its modest coverage when needing a discreet pee off the track. It’s a wonderful combination you don’t often find in women’s outdoor apparel practical, pretty and pocketed! 16.01.2022 It’s Mori Language Week and we’re celebrating indigenous names that are a huge part of our identity. First off Aoraki. The Macpac logo is a stylised image of Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. The ‘swoosh’ over the peak is a representation of a Nor'west arch a weather pattern peculiar to the east coast of New Zealand's South Island. The name has a huge significance for us and our community, representing a pioneering spirit, innovation and resilience. See below, a graphic representation of Aoraki on our Fairtrade Organic tees. #TeWikioteReoMori, #MoriLanguageWeek
15.01.2022 Fun fact, in Te Reo Mori ‘weta’ means mud and poo, but with macrons Wt (after which our roll-top bike pack is named after) refers to the insect, which is endemic to New Zealand. You learn something new every day . . If you had the chance, what do you think would make a great product name, inspired by Te Reo Mori? Let us know below #MoriLanguageWeek
15.01.2022 Don't forget to get amongst it, and be in to win a Family Camping Prize Pack - photo challenge ends today!
14.01.2022 Mt Aspiring is another of our most beloved maunga. The indigenous name means ‘steep peak of glistening white’ and is celebrated in a fun colourful way as a graphic print on our Fairtrade Organic Cotton tees. . . . For those asking, YES this commitment goes beyond Mori Language Week. Through the Macpac Fund for Good we support several minority and indigenous groups across both New Zealand and Australia. This includes Te Waiariki Purea Trust NZ - a Mori organisation for soci...al development (we supported them last month with a grant to enable their youth to participate in the outdoor social & personal development courses), Out There Kowanyama, First Hike Project, Esperance Tjaltjraak and the Babbarra Women's Centre. Not everything we do is actively publicised as we’re committed to these causes regardless of social media In addition, 100% of our cotton tees are Fairtrade organic and we maintain a strong relationship with Fairtrade to ensure fairer working conditions for cotton farmers #TeWikioteReoMori, #MoriLanguageWeek See more

Comfortable and spacious, the Voyager is the perfect pack for day hiking, commuting, or even short multi-day trips. . This is the everyday pack I never knew I needed until I got it. The Voyager is super comfortable, durable and the 35L space means it’s super versatile for day trips in the mountains or when I’m travelling. I love how many pockets/compartments this pack has because I can keep things separate but know exactly where they are. - Olivia, Marketing

10.01.2022 It’s World Rivers Day, so we’re taking a moment to celebrate our waterways and raise awareness for the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. Today, we see many waterways that are no longer swimmable and whose aquatic life and fish stocks are depleted and struggling. We’re proud to support organisations like the Water and Wildlife Habitat Trust in conserving, rehabilitating and sustainably managing freshwater ecosystems and wildlife - through our Fund for Good. . .... We provided funding through native plants for the banks of the spring-fed Silverstream in Canterbury, to restore the ecological health of this waterway that’s an important tributary to the Selwyn/Waikirikiri river. https://www.waterandwildlife.co.nz/silver-stream-restorati/ _ Photo: The Currie family on an adventure on the Wilkin River

05.01.2022 We work collaboratively with our family of athletes and ambassadors to make sure our products stand up to the rigours of the outdoors. ‘Tested in the world’s harshest conditions’ is not something we say lightly. Last week @alastairmcdowell from the New Zealand Alpine Team and Sam Spector completed a 6 day traverse (December 12-17th 2020) from Arthur’s Pass to Mount Cook, from the Waimakariri to the Tasman, testing a prototype of a new pack in our Amp range, with a 15L capacit...y. This is the third iteration of the pack, after continuous feedback, tweaks and updates (massive thanks to @bradencurrie @sallycurrie for their invaluable feedback as well!) With this pack and careful gear selection, multi-day tramping and transalpine trips can be completed with greater efficiency. The team’s route crossed 6 passes, 200km of un-tracked terrain, with 12,000m of elevation gain. The trip was undertaken in a lightweight style, and gear included: the pack itself, running shoes, Petzl Leopard aluminium crampons, Petzl Gully ice axe, rope and harness for glacier travel, helmet, PLB, first aid kit, GPS navigation. Clothing included new Macpac elastane/polypro leggings, the Eyre tee, a hooded pro-thermal baselayer, the Nitro pullover and the new Pertex Tempo Rain jacket. A prototype Macpac zipless sleeping bag weighing only 370 grams was taken (more than sufficient for the warm summer nights). Only 2 days of food were carried at a time between food drops pre-cached in Mathias and Lyell huts. Cooking was done mostly on hut fireplaces and with a small methylated spirits cooker. Swipe to see a selection of photos from the trip, as well as a pack shakedown! Designed for lightweight overnight trips, the new 15L pack is expected to drop next summer. @nzalpineteam . . #outsideisbetter #macpacpacks #prototype #geartesting
02.01.2022 Through our Fund for Good, we’re passionate about helping organisations committed to protecting our environment and its wildlife, and having a lasting positive impact on people’s lives through the outdoors. We’re stoked to share the story of the @climatediaspora expedition team - three explorers who, in 2019, received a storytelling grant from the National Geographic Society to report on climate change, migration patterns, and labour exploitation in Nepal. They reached out to... us for the gear to make their trip happen. . below: on the left, there’s American climate migration policy expert @ericabower15. In the middle, Kiwi multimedia journalist Mattea Mrkusic, and on the right, Nepali climate advocate Bindu Bhandari. Stay tuned as over the next few days as the @climatediaspora team share stories from the world’s highest climate frontline. #climatechange #bethechange See more
