25.01.2022 Im into nature because nature gives so much to me Parks Victoria Ranger WORLD RANGER DAY | Were passionate about inspiring the next generation of outdoor lovers and champion the critical work rangers do across the globe. Since 2019, weve been a proud sponsor of Parks Victoria Junior Rangers program, which encourages kids (between the ages of 6-12 years old) to explore Victorias plethora of natural parks with a real park ranger. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, kids who go through the program emerge with a greater appreciation for and connection to the outdoors. Invaluable! #raiseanoutsidekid #outsideisbetter

25.01.2022 Where is the craziest place youve pitched your Macpac tent? Awesome photo by Diana Galbraith, taken at the edge of the world (Antarctica!). Featuring the old classic, the well-loved Macpac Atlas 4 season alpine tent. #outsideisbetter #challengethecold

25.01.2022 To all the dads who got us out there, this one's for you #HappyFathersDay #outsideisbetter

22.01.2022 The best adventures are yet to come #everydayisfathersday #outsideisbetter

21.01.2022 The Nazomi is for sure my new favourite jacket - it's just the right weight for an emergency piece, but also durable enough for sustained alpine ice routes and has tested well on a miserable bike ride to work in the rain. -- Jaz Morris, NZAT . Great review by the New Zealand Alpine Tea (NZAT) of the Macpac Nazomi Pertex Rain Jacket. The NZAT have high requirements from their gear and dont pull any punches in their reviews. You dont have to be a mountaineer to make the most of technical outdoor gear, but theres a certain confidence in knowing its been put through the paces and is ready for whatever your adventure

20.01.2022 "If there is ever a product that offers the perfect excuse to buy more than one of, it is a lightweight tent. If you live in Australasia you can be subjected to a wide variety of weather conditions. From Tasmanias southwest and NZs Fiordland, through to the hinterland of east coast Australia and the outback, you will cop everything from sweltering heat and humidity, through to torrential rain and snowfall. There is probably no one tent that does it all in terms of being ...able to handle weather conditions from sea-level to the alpine regions, but Macpacs Minaret the NZ brands long-standing two-person three/four-season tent comes very close and is ideal for both hikers and cycle touring." . . Great review of the Minaret on Australian Geographic https://www.australiangeographic.com.au//tested-macpac-mi/ See more

20.01.2022 Were proud of every rip | One of the best things about our partnership with the New Zealand Alpine Team is that they are constantly pushing us to find new solutions when it comes to the equipment they use. Theyre proper gram counters. Gavin Davidson, Head of Design, Macpac. . . Designing for the needs of an evolving climber means were always testing new fabrics and pushing the limits of whats possible. Sometimes our experiments dont work, but through the collaboration, we end up with a better result. This prototype of the Pursuit 40 in a super lightweight dyneema fabric was tested by Dan Joll and repaired mid-expedition with some true Kiwi ingenuity

19.01.2022 Weve been loving the response to this seasons heritage styles. The Tarawera Down Jacket is inspired by the original Macpac Te Wera Jacket (from the mid 80s), described at the time as Our warmest jacket. The Te Wera will protect you when the weather is damp and very, very cold. For mountaineers and others who work or play in extreme weather conditions. The original had a synthetic fill but weve brought it back with responsibly sourced down, a 100% recycled nylon fabric and a PFC-free water repellent finish all combined with Te Wera inspired styling; an old school fit, exterior cargo pockets and detachable dome hood. The retro label and drawcords in Macpac brand colours complete the nod to our heritage. . . #challengethecold #outsideisbetter #heritageisin #since1973

19.01.2022 Remember when we could travel and explore remote places like this With the Banff Mountain Film Festival around the corner, were excited to share some inspo from the New Zealand Alpine Team - a snapshot of their Alaska expedition (2019). #outsideisbetter @nzalpineteam

19.01.2022 Its Conservation Week, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge some of the amazing organisations weve helped support through the Fund for Good, doing great conservation work to enhance and protect the environment: Threatened Species Conservancy AU, Pukaha National Wildlife Centre, Glenfern Sanctuary, Brook Waimarama Sanctuary, Doubtless Conservation and Wild for Taranaki. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication

18.01.2022 Its been more than a decade since we switched to organic cotton in our Australian-made Aztec backpack canvas, and it was the catalyst for a journey thats ongoing. Today, were committed to using only Fairtrade organic cotton in our t-shirt and hoody range, which represents more than 95% of our cotton usage. . For the next two weeks, were celebrating all things Fairtrade. These two weeks are an opportunity to be more conscious of our collective impact, and discerning with the products we all buy. Be part of the change and #choosefairtrade #fairtradefortnight Find out more about our commitment to Fairtrade here: https://www.macpac.co.nz/fairtrade.html

15.01.2022 Mt Aspiring is another of our most beloved maunga. The indigenous name means steep peak of glistening white and is celebrated in a fun colourful way as a graphic print on our Fairtrade Organic Cotton tees. . . . For those asking, YES this commitment goes beyond Mori Language Week. Through the Macpac Fund for Good we support several minority and indigenous groups across both New Zealand and Australia. This includes Te Waiariki Purea Trust NZ - a Mori organisation for soci...al development (we supported them last month with a grant to enable their youth to participate in the outdoor social & personal development courses), Out There Kowanyama, First Hike Project, Esperance Tjaltjraak and the Babbarra Women's Centre. Not everything we do is actively publicised as were committed to these causes regardless of social media In addition, 100% of our cotton tees are Fairtrade organic and we maintain a strong relationship with Fairtrade to ensure fairer working conditions for cotton farmers #TeWikioteReoMori, #MoriLanguageWeek See more

15.01.2022 Ive fallen in love with the exploding pack qualities of the accessible zippered opening. Getting setup at camp was the easiest in a long time, with quick access to my tent and being able to see everything at a glance. Macpac ambassador and through and through outdoors chick Caro Ryan reviews the Rhyolite pack, our 47L hiking pack with a unique full frontal zip. Read her full review below

14.01.2022 We work collaboratively with our family of athletes and ambassadors to make sure our products stand up to the rigours of the outdoors. ‘Tested in the world’s harshest conditions’ is not something we say lightly. Last week @alastairmcdowell from the New Zealand Alpine Team and Sam Spector completed a 6 day traverse (December 12-17th 2020) from Arthur’s Pass to Mount Cook, from the Waimakariri to the Tasman, testing a prototype of a new pack in our Amp range, with a 15L capacit...y. This is the third iteration of the pack, after continuous feedback, tweaks and updates (massive thanks to @bradencurrie @sallycurrie for their invaluable feedback as well!) With this pack and careful gear selection, multi-day tramping and transalpine trips can be completed with greater efficiency. The team’s route crossed 6 passes, 200km of un-tracked terrain, with 12,000m of elevation gain. The trip was undertaken in a lightweight style, and gear included: the pack itself, running shoes, Petzl Leopard aluminium crampons, Petzl Gully ice axe, rope and harness for glacier travel, helmet, PLB, first aid kit, GPS navigation. Clothing included new Macpac elastane/polypro leggings, the Eyre tee, a hooded pro-thermal baselayer, the Nitro pullover and the new Pertex Tempo Rain jacket. A prototype Macpac zipless sleeping bag weighing only 370 grams was taken (more than sufficient for the warm summer nights). Only 2 days of food were carried at a time between food drops pre-cached in Mathias and Lyell huts. Cooking was done mostly on hut fireplaces and with a small methylated spirits cooker. Swipe to see a selection of photos from the trip, as well as a pack shakedown! Designed for lightweight overnight trips, the new 15L pack is expected to drop next summer. @nzalpineteam . . #outsideisbetter #macpacpacks #prototype #geartesting

14.01.2022 Fairtrade is a powerful force for change, and were proud to support it. Fairtrade is all about supporting the growers, ensuring theyre guaranteed a minimum price for what they farm, and helping them establish financial security. 12.01.2022 Thanks for saying no to a bag. To date, our customers have refused over 554,000 retail bags, allowing us to do more good through the Macpac Fund for Good. . . A while ago, we made the change to paper retail bags in our stores and started the 'Refuse a Bag' initiative, donating 20 cents to the Macpac Fund for Good every time customers say no to a retail bag. This fund is then used to support awesome local initiatives that are committed to creating long-term change, for the good of our people and planet. Thanks for being a part of the change. 02.01.2022 The story of Aztec Canvas is almost as old as Macpac itself, and its at the heart of our reputation for making durable, weather resistant packs. We first developed this poly-cotton canvas in 1978 - it was near bulletproof, able to handle tough, unforgiving conditions. A decade ago we developed EcoAztec using organic cotton, because durable and environmentally friendly can go hand in hand. And it was the catalyst for a journey thats ongoing #organiccotton #sustainabledesign

01.01.2022 Its Mori Language Week and were celebrating indigenous names that are a huge part of our identity. First off Aoraki. The Macpac logo is a stylised image of Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealands highest mountain. The swoosh over the peak is a representation of a Norwest arch a weather pattern peculiar to the east coast of New Zealands South Island. The name has a huge significance for us and our community, representing a pioneering spirit, innovation and resilience. See below, a graphic representation of Aoraki on our Fairtrade Organic tees. #TeWikioteReoMori, #MoriLanguageWeek
