14.01.2022 Your child's baby teeth are "caretakers" for the adult teeth that follow Baby teeth help: - your child to chew foods of various consistencies... - stimulate development of facial bones and muscles - play some role in development of speech - contribute to aesthetic appearance - provide space for the permanent teeth and help guide them into their correct position Start the conversation about your child's teeth with your dentist early https://macpd.net.au/why-are-baby-teeth-important/ #tuesdaytips #toothsday #dentist #dentistry #paediatricdentist #macpdentistry#kidsdentist #northshoredentist #camden #tuesdayvibes #tuesdaytrends #narellan #tuesday #camdenmums #childrensdentist #northshoremums #dentaloffice #tuesdaymoods #teeth #babyteethmatter #littleteeth #bowralmums #babyteeth #paediatric #babyteething #dental

13.01.2022 DENTAL HEALTH WEEK AUG 3-9 2020 This years focus for Dental Health Week is to be aware of how much sugar actually hides in foods we purchase as part of our groceries. Everything our children eat can impact their teeth either immediately or later on! Dietary sugar is known to have an effect on development of tooth decay.... Bacteria on the surfaces of teeth can process dietary sugars, convert it in to acid that dissolves minerals from the tooth. When this repeatedly occurs, it is eventually seen as decay. Here are some things to remember: 1. Make water the go to drink - soft drinks, energy drinks, sport drinks and even fruit juices are packed with sugar. 2. A 600mL bottle of soft drink = 16 teaspoons of sugar The American Heart Association recommends children from 2-18 have no more than 6 teaspoons of sugar a day. 3. Read the Nutrition Information Panel located on food labels. 4. One teaspoon of sugar = 4 grams. So if a drink has 20 grams of sugar, it approximately equals 5 teaspoons of sugar. #dentalhealthweek #monday #mondayvibes#dentistry #dental #paediatricdentist #paediatricdentistry #monday #childrensdentist #kidsdentist #kids #children #smiles #mondaymorning #sugar #mondaymonday #mondays #mondaythoughts #macpdentistry #camden #narellan #dentalhealthweek2020

09.01.2022 It only takes a minute to donate life Held every year, DonateLife Week is a key event that highlights the benefits that organ and tissue donation has for transplant recipients and their families in Australia. Over Sunday, 26 July to Sunday, 2 August we encourage all Australians to donate life.... It is quick and easy to become a registered organ and tissue donor at http://ow.ly/vEcq50AIx16, all you need is your Medicare card and a spare minute. We want organ and tissue donation to be a normal part of end of life discussions. If you are already registered, you can do more. Talk to your friends and family. Tell them you want to be a donor. Encourage them to register too. There are around 1,600 Australians currently on the waitlist for a life-saving transplant, and a further 12,000 people on dialysis. If you are willing to become an organ and tissue donor, please register and tell family and friends that you’ve said yes to one day possibly saving lives. To find out more information about how to get involved or register a work place event visit donatelife.gov.au and follow DonateLife on Facebook to keep up to date with all the DonateLife Week activities in NSW. . . . #donatelife #donatelifeweek #donatelifeweek2020 #monday #mondayvibes See more

07.01.2022 How Much Sugar is OK - Whats the math The World Health Organisation recommends adults consume less than 25g or 6 teaspoons of added sugar a day for optimal health benefits. Children should have even less... An average 330ml can of sweet fizzy drink can have between nine and 11 teaspoons of sugar in it - well over the daily quota of sugar for an adult in one drink So don't forget to: 1. Read the label - When deciding between products based on their sugar content, look at the amount of sugar per 100 grams(g). Look for foods with less then 5g sugar per 100g. 2. Remember sugar content is measured by ‘number of teaspoons’ To know how many teaspoons make up a quantity of sugar, divide the amount of sugar by 4 (1 teaspoon sugar = 4g). So if a drink contains 40g of sugar - this means it is equal to 10 teaspoons of sugar #humpday #workitwednesday #wednesdayvibes #wednesdaywisdom #dental #dentistry #paediatricdentist #paediatricdentistry #children #kids #childrensteeth #kidsteeth #macpdentistry #kidsteeth #childrensteeth #littleteeth #macarthurmums #teeth #oralhealth #dentalhealthweek #dentalhealthweek2020

05.01.2022 We routinely get asked questions about whether children have decay or caries. We recommend the first dental visit by the age of 1 or within the first six months of your child's tooth eruption. This allows us to have conversations about your child's teeth and potential problems much before they actually happen ----------------------------- What do cavities look like ?... 1HEALTHY ENAMEL: Enamel appears white, shiny and hard in texture 2 EARLY DECAY: White spot lesions are areas where mineral content within the surface of the tooth has been lost . Although they are hard to clean, these are superficial and contained within the enamel. With good oral hygiene and professional fluoride application, the progression of these lesions can be arrested. 3 DECAY: Often these areas appear yellow, brown or black. Once they are cavitated they will need intervention. 4 PROGRESSION OF DECAY: In cases where these cavities remain untreated, rapid progression can cause breakdown of the entire tooth. This can harbour more bacteria and food making the cavity larger and deeper. 5 DENTAL INFECTION/FACIAL SWELLINGS : Accumulation of bacteria and their by products can cause an abscess which is a localised collection of pus or a facial swelling. . . . #tuesdaytips #paediatricdentist #kids #children #childrendentist #kidsdentist #macpdentistry #camden #narellan #bowral #tuesdaymoods #northshoredentist #tuesdayvibes #didyouknow #tuesdaytrends #transformationtuesday #tuesday #toothsday #tuesdaytips #caries #dentalcaries #dentalhealth

04.01.2022 At birth the crowns of the baby teeth are formed and the tooth buds for the adult molar teeth are already present Your child's baby teeth can tell us stories about what their adult teeth may be like Don't forget to talk to your dentist about these stories early #friday #friyay #fridayfun #floss #paediatricdentist #dentistry #dentists #dentist #kidsdentist #dentalstories #childrensdentist #fridayvibes #fridaymoods #macpdentistry #children #kids #tgif #oralhealth #caries #northshoredentist #northshoremums #kidsteeth #kidsteethmatter #camdenmums #bowralmums #camden #narellan #didyouknow #funfactfriday #babyteeth

02.01.2022 Beware the Hidden Sugars Sugar comes in a variety of forms and has many aliases so beware - regardless of what it is called - it can still lead to tooth decay ! Hidden sugars as their name suggests are harder to detect Look out for these names on food labels and nutrition information panels.... Although foods and drinks claim to have no refined or added sugars, they may have these hidden sugars called by these names A fantastic graphic thanks to our friends @australiandentalassociation #dentalhealthweek #dentalhealthweek2020 #tuesdaytips #paediatricdentist #kids #children #childrendentist #kidsdentist #macpdentistry #camden #narellan #bowral #macarthurmums #tuesdayvibes #toothsday #dentistry #dental #littleteeth #kidsteeth

01.01.2022 FISSURE SEALANTS are a simple and effective method in preventing and arresting decay in the grooves of baby and adult molar teeth. The grooves in molar teeth can be hard to keep clean given their ability to trap food debris and bacteria. Fissure sealants are an excellent preventative treatment option and relatively non-invasive and have also been shown to slow decay in teeth that have not yet become cavities. #tuesday #toothsdaytip #tuesdaytips #toothsday #toothsdaytuesday #tuesdayvibes #tuesdaytrends #teeth fissuresealant #fissuresealants #kidsteeth #babyteeth #paediatricdentist #dentist #dentistry #kidsdentist #childrensdentist #kids #children #camden #narellan #camdenmums #bowralmums #northshoredentist #macpdentistry #dental #dentaloffice
