25.01.2022 Our Ducklings have enjoyed running their own headquarters at the centre! Taking phone calls, writing reports and checking play roll for their peers. Our children are demonstrating roll playing from their imaginative skills and transferring their knowledge of how to use such devices having seen adults using them. Their creative minds have lead them to really enjoy their hard work at the office!
25.01.2022 Our book swap is underway in the foyer! Bring in a book you no longer want/need and take a new book home! Don't forget do take one of our new 'Activity Cards' home from our play display which is all about books!
24.01.2022 As part of NAIDOC week, the Crocodiles used their fine motor skills to paint dots onto pebbles. They learnt that this is a traditional way that the Aboriginal people used to paint. We used earthy colours such as yellow, orange, brown and black.
23.01.2022 The Crocodiles enjoy reading aboriginal dreamtime stories. Their favourites are "When the Snake Bites the Sun" and "How the Birds Got Their Colours".
23.01.2022 Don't forget to take a photo with our snowman on your way out!
22.01.2022 Tantrums are hard, but remember your not alone, as all children have them. Here is a great article explaining tantrums and it also provides some great tips in dealing with them.
19.01.2022 Last week the Crocodiles learnt all about Harmony Week with lots of discussions about Australia’s cultural diversity. After covering a map of Australia in hand prints, they used paper Mache to represent the world. They really loved using paper to create representations of themselves and all of their different and wonderful features.
17.01.2022 Our annual Christmas party looked a little different this year but boy did the children have a blast! Animals, jumping castle, dancing, ice blocks and fairy bread! The children loved cuddling and feeding the baby animals. What a great way to bring 2020 to a close
17.01.2022 GRADUATION DAY!! Congratulations to our wonderful graduating Crocodiles as they finish their journey with us and start their wonderful new chapter at big school. We will miss them!
16.01.2022 Here at Macquarie ELC, we are committed to providing the highest possible standard of care and education to children ages 0-5 years from their very first steps to their preparation and transition to big school! We pride ourselves on having created a centre which has a warm and homely feel with a large and leafy green outdoor area, despite our convenient location in the Macquarie Park business precinct. We are much smaller in size in comparison to many centres in the area, al...lowing our excellent team of passionate educators to develop wonderful and close relationships with our children and families. We would love to welcome you into the MELC Family. Visit our website or call our friendly Centre Manager, Ellie to find out further information and book in your tour today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9A25dMu1mY
13.01.2022 Recently in the Ducklings we have worked on some mindfulness and incorporated Yoga. Yoga is a great exercise as it engages core, encourages balance, calms the mind whist increasing concentration and lastly helps with proper breathing techniques. Our Ducklings choose their poses by flicking through a brochure with multiple poses reflecting animal body shapes to further encourage their participation.
12.01.2022 In the preparation for Halloween, using paints and play-dough our pumpkins came alive! Together we crafted our own 2D and 3D orange vegetable, this sensory activity worked on our fine motor skills and our creativity as we got to mold the dough into our own perspective of a pumpkin. The orange overload also helped our ducklings work on their color recognition.
12.01.2022 Today the crocodiles talked about the kangaroo! We noticed the features of the kangaroo such as their eyes, ears, long legs and that sometimes they have a pouch for their baby Joey. We looked at photos of where kangaroos lived in the bushland of Australila and then used craft materials to create our own kangaroos, capturing their physical features and habitat.
12.01.2022 Teaching and role modelling consent is extremely important in the work we do with children, as well as parents. Showing respect for children's choices, their l...evel of comfort and using the correct terminology for private parts can be extremely empowering for young children! #earlyyearstraining #childrensrights #childrensvoices #earlychildhood #choices #teachconsent Image Source: Perth children's occupational therapy
12.01.2022 We love dinosaurs! The Crocodiles have a strong interest in learning about dinosaurs and blow us away with their knowledge of all the different names. Today we engaged in dramatic play while exploring our sensory play table this morning. We made the dinosaurs eat leaves, stomp in the water and roar! Check out our Dinosaur enclosure inside! The Crocodiles helped to make a dinosaur cave and even made a river for the under water dinosaurs like the Plesiosaurus!
06.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing, wonderful and loving MELC Mums

02.01.2022 The Crocodiles are brilliant bakers. They worked together to make banana cupcakes from scratch! They used their skills to read the recipe, measure out the ingredients and mix it all together. They made a great snack for afternoon tea. Look out Master Chef!
