22.01.2022 Thank you to the lovely family who donated a bag of lemons fresh from their tree last Friday. They have been combined with fresh eggs from our school chickens to make mini lemon meringue pies for staff morning tea tomorrow. How lucky are we to have access to such delicious fresh products.

These cases... are known close contacts of a recently identified case in Batemans Bay. If youre an ACT resident and youve been contacted by NSW Health in relation to these cases, please get in touch with us through the ACT COVID-19 helpline on 6207 7244 (between 8am and 8pm daily). Please also share this information with anyone you know who has been in the Batemans Bay region recently. We strongly advise you to keep up to date with the latest affected areas in NSW by visiting the NSW Health website www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates These latest cases are a timely reminder to reconsider your need to travel interstate for non-essential reasons. If you need to travel, always follow the guidance on both the ACT COVID-19 website (www.covid19.act.gov.au) and the websites of the state youre travelling to. Remember to maintain at least 1.5 metres physical distance from others, practise good hand and respiratory hygiene, always provide your first name and contact number when requested by a venue, and dont travel if youre sick. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely in our neighbouring borders and will provide regular updates to the Canberra community. More information at www.covid19.act.gov.au/travel

17.01.2022 Access to the Google Drive and Google Classroom systems has now been restored for ACT public school students. Students are expected to be able to access their e...mail accounts by the end of this week; this is to ensure removal of inappropriate content and that appropriate safety controls are in place. The Education Directorate understands this incident has caused anxiety for some students and families and that it has disrupted students being able to study effectively during this time. 13.01.2022 Next week we begin our new acknowledgement system. Teachers will be looking for students showing safe, respectful and learning behaviours on the playground. They will be given a token. Student tokens will be collected by school captains. The aim is to increase the amount of tokens collected by students each week for a great whole school reward. Don't forget to ask your children about it next week.

10.01.2022 Did you know 1/3 of all edible food produced globally is wasted - thrown in the bin. Food waste produces methane in landfill a powerful greenhouse gas. What do you do with your food waste? Why not put it in our compost at school. We had one family bring in a Weet-Bix box full today - straight in the compost. All vege scraps are welcome (cant take meat, dairy or citrus sorry). Weve also had a family drop in coffee grounds and staff have been collecting tea leaves. The more we have in our compost the more nutrient rich soil we can create. Feel free to throw your veg waste directly in the school compost. We are currently adding to the compost bay closest to the library - pop it in there. Many thanks from us and the environment

03.01.2022 ACT Health is warning Canberrans about the potential for a thunderstorm asthma event in the ACT region today (Sunday 22 November) and tomorrow (Monday 23 Novemb...er). The warning comes as we see elevated pollen levels and the possibility of severe thunderstorms over the next two days, increasing the risk of a thunderstorm asthma event. People who suffer from hay fever or asthma are encouraged to be vigilant for any worsening of their condition. Thunderstorm asthma can be sudden, serious and even life threatening for people with asthma or hay fever. Protect yourself, or someone you care for, from risk by: staying indoors with windows and doors closed staying in air-conditioned premises, and if possible, switching the air conditioner to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce the amount of dust entering the building avoiding all vigorous exercise, especially if you have a heart or lung conditions If you experience asthma symptoms which are unrelieved by their usual asthma treatment, seek urgent medical advice. In the event of a medical emergency call 000. If it is safe to do so, check on elderly neighbours or people who you think might need extra help. For more information visit health.act.gov.au/public-health-alerts
