19.01.2022 In 2005 Paul Kelly and the Stormwater Boys recorded the magical 'Foggy Highway' concert live at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney. This was when Paul was enjoying his bluegrass/folk/country music phase. Thanks to his management - One Louder Entertainment - we are being allowed to bring you this concert - as a fundraiser for RiverSmart replayed on our full sized cinema screen (8 x 5 metres) to relive this incredible musical event. The concert also includes cameo appearances by S...ara Storer and Kasey Chambers. Reviews of the night said, "Musical storytelling at is finest" and "Throughout, the musicianship is impeccable". Funds raised from the night will go toward our second deck at the Kookaburra Kiosk of the Window on the Wetlands Centre. Where: Warren's Sporting and Cultural Centre When: 7.30 pm start on Saturday 1st of April (not this is not an April Fool's joke!) Cost: $20 per person. No BYO drinks sorry but you can bring your own food (why not get a table with friends?). There will be drinks and bar-b-que food for sale at the venue. If you love Paul Kelly, or bluegrass, or both.. this is not to be missed! See you there, Bill
19.01.2022 This week we installed another 2 education and information panels at the WOW Centre in Warren (see photos); one about how land and water is used in the Macquarie Valley and the other all about how important are our billabongs! That completes 5 information shelters (ie 40 panels!!!) and in the next month we'll go close to installing the rest - 8 about early European heritage and 8 about the Wayilwan people and their heritage around Warren, Coonamble and the Macquarie Marshes. Access to this information is free and available 24/7 and while there you can grab a coffee at the Kookaburra Kiosk and take a stroll around the adjoining Tiger Bay Wetlands. A great thing to do over the Easter break. Bill
19.01.2022 From Emmalee Holmes: Hi, We are calling all River Users & Community Groups to support this event to clean up the Macquarie River Dubbo: September 22nd: Please join Rivercare for a Kayak Clean Up of the River, from the LH Ford Bridge towards the north weir. With water levels being low, there's a lot of rubbish on display - time for a clean up. The event will be pending water quality. ... You have to be a financial member $10 of Rivercare to join in so you are insured, see form attached. BYO kayak/canoe/SUP & lifejacket if you have one. A great idea is to attach a washing basket or milk crate to your boat with ockey straps. Bring sun protection, drinking water, wear lightweight clothing, hat, gloves and shoes with solid soles. There may be boats and jackets to borrow on the day (or hire) or can assist on Land collection. contact [email protected] for details. Thankyou! See more

14.01.2022 WOW, what a special moment! Last Friday after all the rain upstream and here in Warren, the Macquarie River reached the necessary height for water to flow into the Ewenmar Creek which hasn't seen water for several years (don't get me started on why but you can probably guess!). Anyway, I was there at the Beemunnel Aboriginal Reserve to see the water arrive and walk in front of it as it surged along the creek bed, returning life. I'm currently helping the local Aboriginal Land... Council here to try to secure a cultural flow for this creek. It won't be easy but in terms of average annual flows down the Macquarie the volume needed is much less than 1%. Now to convince the pollies of why this is significant to do on a regular basis. The third photo show what we installed last year and goes by the name of 'The waiting for water seat'. Finally it's done it's job....with nature's help.
