25.01.2022 Redemption for 5th Grade After last week's dismal performance where we were bowled out for 41, Macquarie Uni 5th Grade redeemed themselves by amassing 5 for 250 at the end of day 1 in their match against leaders, North Shore. The star of the day was Myles Lego who scored a brutal 77 n.o. with 9 fours and 5 sixes in an innings of utter dominance. An opening stand of 64, followed by a first wicket stand of 81 laid the platform for the big score. Legs with 38, Sandeep with 47 and Tim with 38 were the other contributors to this great start.

22.01.2022 Chappelow Cup Semi Final! Lance Hutchinson Oval Saturday 12.15 Start Vs Balmain ... Let's get some support down there for the lads! Also remember to stay atleast 1.5m away from the nearest person when supporting !

22.01.2022 The fee structure for the 2020-21 season has been finalised. MQ Student - $225. Non MQ Student - $275. MQ Alumni - $275.... MUCC Community Member - $295. Masters - $395. Instructions on how to pay will be posted shortly.

21.01.2022 Sandip Blazes Maiden Century as 5ths Move into Commanding Position Congratulations, from everyone, to Sandip Bijlwan who scored his maiden century for Macquarie Uni today. Sandip's superb innings, which included 7 fours and 5 sixes, enabled 5th Grade to declare an hour before stumps at 7 for 185. In 15 hostile overs, Mac Uni reduced West Ryde to 4 for 22 with our hero of the day, Sandip, also taking 3 for 12 off 5 overs. Sandip was well supported by Parth with 1 for 5 off 5 very quick overs, Nas 0 for 4 off 3 and Saurav 0 for 0 off 2. At last we are really showing what we can do!

20.01.2022 5ths Sodden But Triumphant Despite the reservations of the West Ryde Captain, and after much sweeping of the pitch, play got underway at 2.07p.m. leaving 51 overs in the day's play for MUCC to secure a win. A partnership of 47 between Lee and Watson stalled our push for victory, but a great ball by Saurav ended this stumbling block when he clean bowled Lee with one that skidded through. A well judged catch by Shashwat had the dangerous Napper out for a duck, and when Jacques bowled two more batsmen he quickly had 3 for 4 off 4. Wickets continued to fall and after 42 overs West Ryde were out for 96. Best of the bowlers were Jacques with 3 for 28 off 10 and Sandip with 3 for 18 off 9. With 16 overs to go Macquarie enforced the follow on to have West Ryde 2 for 26 when stumps were called.

18.01.2022 Due to the COVID-19 Outbreak the the rest of the 2019/20 season has been cancelled. That means Chappelow Cup who were Minor Premiers have been crowned Premiers! Massive congratulations to Syeed and the team! It's well deserved after a outstanding season which resulted in 15 wins and 104 points from 22 games !... Well done lads !

15.01.2022 In an extraordinary day's play Mac Uni 5ths secured first innings points on Day 1 of their match against West Epping at Lofberg Oval. Winning the toss and batting West Epping were soon in trouble when Kripa bowled star batsmen, Hudson, for 2. Wickets fell at a steady rate and before long they were 5 for 34, with only Shirlaw providing any resistance. In very humid conditions, bowlers were given short, sharp spells and this paid off as 7 out of 8 bowlers took wickets in their... first 2 overs. After 28 overs West Epping were bowled out for 60 ... literally as 9 out of 10 batsmen were bowled!! This was no doubt our most complete effort in the field this season with accurate bowling backed up by sharp fielding. Best of the bowlers were Kripa with 2 for 4 off 4, Sandip 2 for 9 off 4 and Abhishek 2 for 3 off 3. With 40 overs left in the day's play Mac Uni were determined to get the runs first, and then build a lead. At 5 for 55 we were looking a little shaky but when Sayanthan pulled a four to get us home the relief could be felt throughout the team. In a quick fire innings Abhishek then scored 29 with 4 fours and a six taking the lead to 59 with Legs 31 n.o. after batting through the 40 overs.

09.01.2022 5ths in Heartbreak Loss In a last over loss to Kirribilli, Mac Uni's semi final chances have all but faded. Winning the toss and batting, we set a seemingly defendable total of 8 for 182 off 35 overs. Parth with a hard hitting 56 n.o. including 4 x 6's and 4 x 4's, Sandeep 26, Myles 24, Jatin 20 and Nas 20 were the best of the batsmen. With two of the best batters in the competition opening for Kirribilli, a clinical performance was required. Unfortunately, we were not able t...o produce this, and by the 17th over they were 0 for 101, with both batsmen in menacing form. A breakthrough finally came in the 18th over with Parth taking a great catch on the boundary to dismiss Ramesh for 58. A second wicket partnership of 61 took the score to 161 before Deepak was also caught by Parth on the boundary for 69. With 4 overs to go they needed 18 to win and some good bowling took it to the 4th ball of the last over before the winning runs were hit. Best of the bowlers were Parth who only conceded 14 runs off his 7 overs and Sayanthan who took 2 for 16 off 3. Again, as has happened throughout the season, our fielding let us down with 5 chances being put down and some sloppy work on basic plays giving away too many runs. See more
