22.01.2022 QLD is a massive state! We travelled nearly 700kms today and are still 680kms North of Emerald. We have stopped in for the night at an old Nickel mining town called Greenvale in the Charters Towers region, it feels a very long way from home but we are super pleased with our $60 / night stay in this cool retro caravan! ... What a bargain! We don't even have to set up the tent! Travelling doesn't have to be expensive & we love to mix it up a little with different styles of accomodation along the way! 12.01.2022 Is the writing on the wall for government stamp duty when buying a house or unit? It certainly is starting to look that way with the NSW Government announcing it would remove its Stamp Duty, replacing the upfront cost to buyers with an ongoing land tax instead. The ACT has already started transitioning to a new scheme. The Victorian government not to be out-done, have introduced Stamp Duty Discounts for the next 7 months. Concessions have been available for some time for ...first home buyers, but for others the duties are a significant upfront cost and is required on top of the deposit amount, resulting in a prohibitive extra expense for growing families moving to a bigger home. These changes have been talked about for years, and it’s good to see the States motivated to pull the trigger and do something about it. This is one positive that has come from the pandemic. 04.01.2022 The Team at Mad About LIFE are doing a happy dance this afternoon! After we achieved another big GOAL for one of our longest standing clients! A special mention goes to our Client Service Officer Maddy for all the hard work she has put in recently to help achieve this fantastic outcome for our client! A beautiful young QLD family came to us in December of 2014, they had one child at the time and another on the way.... Unfortunately at the time, the father and primary breadwinner of this young family could only achieve Life Insurance and Trauma cover with a very high premium increase applied to the policies due to his health history at the time. No Income Protection or Total Permanent Disability Cover was available at all. So, we recommended and put in place a temporary protection plan, retained some existing basic cover that he had in various Super accounts (Thankfully) and have worked with our client every year since then to review his circumstances and insurability as he focused on improving his health. Today we achieved something amazing! His brand new Protection Plan went into force for a full scope of comprehensive cover, including; the Life, TPD, Trauma and Income Protection Insurance he needs, at a fraction of the cost of what he was paying for limited cover previously and we've managed to consolidate his Super into one account and save thousands of dollars in fee's! Woohoo - At Mad About LIFE, we always aim to improve our clients Protection plan in line with their needs and circumstances year on year, even when the insurers say no, we continue working towards a Yes until we achieve it!
