With Saturday nights Silver Cup and WA Speedcar Title in mind: At this stage we are still all systems go however we know that the weather forecast is unfavorable and as is our policy (and always has been) we will make the call tomorrow (Saturday) being race day - if the event will take place. We'd appreciate it if you could bare with us in making this decision as naturally we are very keen to get this important event raced as i'm sure you are also. Please don't participate in rumors as it creates unnecessary angst within the Sport. Regards Gavin Migro - Speedway Manager

24.01.2022 The Maddington Toyota TRIPLE CROWN wrapped up the WA sprintcar season at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night. The three-round mini-series traditionally ends the season after the main Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Championship concludes. Saturday night’s final went to Callum Williamson from Taylor Milling, Jason Kendrick, Jason Pryde and Darren Mewett.... When the points were tallied at the end of the three rounds it was Pryde who ended up on top with 424 points. This was thanks to this third, sixth and fourth in the three shows - being the most consistent driver at the back end of the season. Second overall was Jason Kendrick on 420 points - thanks to his 2nd, 10th and 3rd. Third was young gun AJ Nash on 404 points - banking solid points with a 5th, 12th and a 6th. Fourth overall was Milling who raced up the rankings after his great drive on Saturday night - with his results showing a 16th, 7th and 2nd. Andrew Priolo, despite crashing out hard in the final round - took fifth overall with his results of a 4th, 8th and a DNF. Darren Mewett ended the season on a high with sixth in the series. In the first two rounds he was 12th and 13th, but last Saturday night he challenged the front runners in a sensational drive, finally finishing 5th, for 390 points. This was on the back of him winning the Bonza Bradford event in Pithara two weeks ago in the SAWA Sprintcar Series. Matt Cross, who has confirmed he will be back next season in the W94, was 388 and seventh overall after a 7th, 15th and 9th. Eighth place went to Trevor Reynolds with an 8th, 11th and 12 - also showing some pace and consistency in the W15 in the back end of the season, giving them something to build on for next year. Kris Coyle, who recently wrapped up third in the main Maddington Toyota Sprintcar series, was 9th in the TRIPLE CROWN on 384 points - thanks to his 11th, 9th and DNF. Tenth was Trevor Jolly on 376 with a 13th, 14th and a 10th. Overall points: Jason Pryde 424, Jason Kendrick 420, AJ Nash 404, Taylor Milling 400, Andrew Priolo 396, Darren Mewett 390, Matthew Cross 388, Trevor Reynolds 388, Kris Coyle 384, Trevor Jolly 376, Daniel Harding 370, Dayne Kingshott 334, Callum Williamson 300, Ryan Lancaster 298, David Priolo 296, Jaydee Dack 294, Brad Maiolo 258, Ben Butcher 182, Robbie Farr 150, Troy Lawson 134, Cameron McKenzie 130, Kye Scroop 122, Kaiden Manders 120, James Inglis 112, Shaun Bradford 50, Paul Peet 50.

22.01.2022 DOUBLE THE ACTION Saturday night is going to be a busy night for sprintcars teams contesting the #waspeedweek double header at the Perth Motorplex. Because round five was unable to go ahead on Wednesday night, after bushfires in the Kwinana Beach area damaged power infrastructure, twin features will be held on Saturday.... Basically, this is how it works. Drivers who haven’t played their Joker yet either have to play it for the first or the second feature race to double their points for that particular feature race - Saturday night is the last opportunity to do so. At the drivers’ briefing before the show starts they must announce which feature race their Joker will apply to. Those who don’t make any announcement will have it played automatically for the second feature race, which follows the standard of previous years where it is played automatically on the last available round. In qualifying, the first lap recorded will be used for gridding up heat races 1-3 and points from lap 1 qualifying and these heat races will form the first feature race. The second qualifying lap will be used for gridding up heat races 4-6 and points from lap 2 qualifying and these heat races will form the second feature race later in the night. The drivers will be spread across the heat races that lead up to each 30-lap feature race - there will no Dashes. Essentially, it is two nights of racing jammed into one huge night! 22.01.2022 T H A N K Y O U Phew, it is hard to believe four rounds of #waspeedweek have already been run and won. And we can't wait for the final two shows - this Wednesday night and next Saturday night - both at the Perth Motorplex.... Thank you to everyone who has supported the series so far - the venues - Perth Motorplex - Bunbury Speedway - and yesterday at Allwest Plant Hire - Ellenbrook Speedway. It has been a big effort and a race against time for the volunteers at Bunbury to get the track up to spec and it paid off with a big crowd on New Year's Day. And Ellenbrook is a winter venue, so racing there in a twilight show yesterday was something totally new - and it was great to see a big crowd support the northern suburbs venue. We look forward to the big crowds continuing at the Motorplex as they have done this season, producing some great action. Thank you to the race fans who have supported all four rounds so far - the new-look Speedweek concept seems to be a winner, with good car counts and great action. And congratulations to the round winners so far - James McFadden, Callum Williamson (twice) and Brock Zearfoss. If you haven't been to one of these rounds yet - you still have two chances - we hope you get on board. 22.01.2022 Check out all the awesome action on the screen TOMORROW.
22.01.2022 Everything about Jason Pryde is professional and you only have to look at his race team set-up to understand this. The JPM 14 and transporter is one of the best looking ones around - and added to this - Pryde has flown in Robbie Farr to contest the six rounds of #waspeedweek. Pryde, pictured here at Bunbury Speedway looking at the team's data, was 16th in the opening night of Speedweek at the Perth Motorplex.... At the same venue two nights later he claimed a well-deserved 8th. It got even better at Bunbury when he crossed the line in 7th. Unfortunately the fourth round of Speedweek, at Ellenbrook, Pryde posted a DNF on a very demanding track. Team mate Farr has enjoyed a good run and is looking better with every outing - he has claimed a 7th, a pair of 4ths and a third. How will the team go in the next two rounds? Be at the Perth Motorplex TOMORROW night and again on SATURDAY night to find out. 22.01.2022 Matthew Cross is one of the quiet achievers in WA sprintcar racing who is a regular driver in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series But just because he doesn’t garner the profile or have the budget of some of the more high-profile teams, doesn’t mean he is less committed. He is currently 13th in the series points and in round two recently he showed plenty of drive in the #94.... Cross started from P5 in the Last Chance Qualifier and once he got into a groove he moved forward to be locked into a great battle with Cameron McKenzie for the lead. Cross won the battle to take the popular win and clocked the quickest lap of the race at 14.769 seconds. He then started P17 in the 40-lap feature race and put in another great drive to take home 11th against a star-studded field. This is on the back of his 14th in the feature race at the opening bout of the season. How will Cross Motorsport go at the next show? Be trackside to find out. 22.01.2022 Perth Motorplex Track Championship!
22.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on life as we know it in 2020. And this includes the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series where the final couple of shows were abandoned as the most of the world went into lockdown to beat the spread of coronavirus. The only good news is we were able to complete the main part of the series but the subsequent racing and the annual awards tonight - that was scheduled for the end of this month - has been scrapped.... Despite these hiccups, the prize payouts for the top 20 in points in the series will still be made at the end of the month. In the lead up to last season the Sprintcar Entrants Group board, after consultation with team owners and drivers, decided to extend the payouts from the top 10 to the top 20, to ensure more people received a share of the prizemoney on offer. In consultation with management from series naming rights sponsor Maddington Toyota, we will honour the top performers of the season at the launch of the 2020-21 season, later in the year. By the time of the launch we hope to have a clearer picture of what the world will look like and we can get back on with the job of doing what we all love - sprintcar racing. In the near future, in conjunction with the Perth Motorplex and the Sprintcar Association of Western Australia, we also hope to release the new-season calendar. Obviously there are still questions about what restrictions are likely to be in place for the new season but as everyone moves through phases of recovery and restrictions are lifted, we will announce more. One of the highlights of the new season will be the running of the Australian Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex - something we are sure that many drivers and team owners are looking forward to. There will also be a raft of other highlights that we look forward to sharing with you in due course. In the meantime, we wish everyone a safe off-season. Stay tuned...

19.01.2022 American Brock Zearfoss, with four podium placings from four outings, is the leader of the WA Speedweek super series with two rounds remaining. Zearfoss claimed his first win at Allwest Plant Hire - Ellenbrook Speedway in a twilight show on Saturday night from Queenslander Robbie Farr and Jason Kendrick. As a result he is on 586 points, 20 clear of Farr who claimed his best result so far of second, on the back of a fourth the previous night at Bunbury.... Third overall is Callum Williamson on 550 points, who has won two of the four rounds, but unfortunately his points tally took a dive at Ellenbrook, out of the contest in the opening laps with a cut down left rear tyre. Kris Coyle is fourth overall, boosted mainly from his third at Bunbury - he took a 10th last night at Ellenbrook and has 546 points. Andrew Priolo is now fifth on 540 points, thanks largely to a barnstorming run last night where he finished seventh. The top 10 is rounded out by Kaiden Manders on 528, America-based Lynton Jeffrey on 532, Dayne Kingshott on 524, Jason Kendrick 522 and James Inglis on 518. Round 5 of the series will be held at the Perth Motorplex on Wednesday, January 6, with the Speedweek final also to be held at the Motorplex, next Saturday, Saturday 9. Speedweek points after 4 rounds: Brock Zearfoss 586, Robbie Farr 566, Callum Williamson 550, Kris Coyle 546, Andrew Priolo 540, Kaiden Manders 538, Lynton Jeffrey 532, Dayne Kingshott 524, Jason Kendrick 522, James Inglis 518, AJ Nash 502, Jason Pryde 502, David Priolo 496, Taylor Milling 486, Brad Maiolo 480, Scott Bogucki 408, Trevor Jolly 392, Daniel Harding 390, James McFadden 296, Matthew Cross 280, Ben Butcher 238, Cameron McKenzie 232, Daniel Hartigan 226, Jamie Oldfield 222, Ryan Lancaster 178, Todd Davis 174, George Eaton 118, Trevor Reynolds 110, Jaydee Dack 108, Sean Zemunik 104. 17.01.2022 WE MISSED THESE GUYS!! There were three omissions from the program for the Scardifield's Smash Repairs King of Wings at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday night. Ryan Lancaster (pictured) and the Dingo De Motorsport crew were looking forward to the event, but were a late scratching after a few of them became ill in the lead up to the event.... We hope that everyone has recovered and we look forward to seeing them back on track. Darren Mewett is also still waiting for his engine to be sorted so he can front in the W55 for the first time this summer. And Daniel Hartigan and the Sprintcar Parts Australia team was also a withdrawal after experiencing engine issues at practice on the Wednesday night before the event. 17.01.2022 DUE to the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional awards night for the 2019-20 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series did not go ahead as scheduled last Saturday night. Instead the awards will be officially presented at a combined awards ceremony and launch of the 2020-21 season later on in the year - once all the details of the new season are in place and hopefully all COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. Despite this the top 20 placegetters in the series will receive their end-o...f-season payouts this week. In total more than $70,000 in cash payments were made over the past week, once again making it one of the most lucrative dirt racing series payouts in the country - for what we believe is Australias premier domestic sprintcar series. In the lead up to last season the Sprintcar Entrants Group made the decision to make the payouts back to the top 20, instead of the top 10 like the previous season. This decision was made to provide incentives for more teams to compete and spread the financial support. It pays $1000 for 20th this year which is still $250 more than the series/sprintcar joining fee. Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series top 20: 1st Jason Kendrick $14,000, 2nd Mitchell Wormall $8000, 3rd Callum Williamson $7000, 4th Daniel Harding $6000, 5th Andrew Priolo $5500, 6th Kris Coyle $5000, 7th Jason Pryde $4500, 8th Tom Callaghan $4000, 9th Jamie Oldfield $3500, 10th Ben Ellement $2500, 11th Matthew Cross $2000, 12th AJ Nash $1000, 13th Ben Van Ryt $1000, 14th Trevor Jolly$1000, 15th Todd Davis $1000, 16th Shaun Bradford $1000, 17th Ben Butcher $1000, 18th Taylor Milling $1000, 19th Daniel Hartigan $1000, 20th Kerry Madsen $1000. Stay tuned for another awards announcement in the very near future...
17.01.2022 Kaiden Manders is one of the drivers who will have to play his Joker when two feature races are contested at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night. The Joker card is available once to every driver in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series - up to and including the meeting this Saturday night. When the Joker is played, the driver will double their feature race points for that nominated round.... Manders, like others who haven’t played it yet, has a decision to make - should he play it for the first feature race or the second one? (we have two feature races after the scheduled Wednesday night show didn’t go ahead because of fires in the area). The only challenge is that each driver yet to play it must make that declaration at the drivers’ briefing before the show gets underway. Manders is fifth overall in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series but is the highest placed driver to have not played their Joker, so a good result in his Joker round will be a massive boost to his points tally. 16.01.2022 Another big performance from Merger Motorsport pilot Kris Coyle is possible when he contests a massive night of sprintcar racing at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night. Coyle and the team, headed up by Scott Chatwin, are preparing for TWO feature races on the night to make up for the fire-affected event that was scheduled for the Motorplex on Wednesday night. Coyle has shown a lot of car speed this summer and the results are starting to show.... In the past four shows he has had a fourth, a 10th, a third and another 10th. As a result he is fourth overall in the Speedweek points series. And just as important - he is second overall in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series points battle on 1218 points, only bettered by Krikke MotorSport’s Dayne Kingshottt on 1240. Both Krikke and Coyle have played their Jokers (this weekend is the last chance for drivers to play them and double their feature race points for one of the two nominated rounds - they must make that declaration at the drivers’ briefing before the show gets underway). How will the W79 go? Be trackside on Saturday night to find out. 15.01.2022 Andrew Priolo - Highway Harley-Davidson Racing Team -has been consistent in the first four rounds of Speedweek that are already in the books. Heading into the double header, where two feature races will be contested at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night, the second-generation sprintcar racer is fifth overall in the Speedweek points. He started out with an 8th and a 7th in the first two rounds - also at the Motorplex.... Then at Bunbury he posted another 8th, before claiming a 7th in an elbows-up drive at Ellenbrook Speedway the following day. Priolo is eighth overall in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series and is yet to play his Joker - which must be done for one of the two feature races this Saturday night - doubling the points for that feature race - the only catch is they must announce it before the show gets underway. Speedweek points after 4 rounds: Brock Zearfoss 586, Robbie Farr 566, Callum Williamson 550, Kris Coyle 546, Andrew Priolo 540, Kaiden Manders 538, Lynton Jeffrey 532, Dayne Kingshott 524, Jason Kendrick 522, James Inglis 518, AJ Nash 502, Jason Pryde 502, David Priolo 496, Taylor Milling 486, Brad Maiolo 480, Scott Bogucki 408, Trevor Jolly 392, Daniel Harding 390, James McFadden 296, Matthew Cross 280, Ben Butcher 238, Cameron McKenzie 232, Daniel Hartigan 226, Jamie Oldfield 222, Ryan Lancaster 178, Todd Davis 174, George Eaton 118, Trevor Reynolds 110, Jaydee Dack 108, Sean Zemunik 104. 15.01.2022 Callum Williamson is the new leader in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series points. Williamson was one of a big list of drivers who had to play their Joker card in the twin feature race show at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night as part of the WA Speedweek series finale. Williamson elected to play his Joker card in the first of the two feature races where he finished eighth.... He then drove to a solid fourth in the second feature race and now has 1508 points to lead from Kaiden Manders who has 1504 points. Manders played his Joker card in the second feature race where he was a DNF but he grabbed a solid points run over the two shows to put himself in contention for series honours. Dayne Kingshott, who went into the big night of racing as the series leader, having played his Joker card early in the season, is now third on 1502 and he had a good result in the first feature race where he finished second to American Brock Zearfoss. Kris Coyle is now fourth on 1490 points after a fifth and a ninth on the night. James Inglis, who became a first-time dad during the week, is fifth on 1460 points after finishing 16th and 8th. There are five rounds remaining for the series, with the next round being at the Perth Motorplex on January 30. Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series points: Callum Williamson 1508, Kaiden Manders 1504, Dayne Kingshott 1502, Kris Coyle 1490, James Inglis 1460, Jason Kendrick 1448, Andrew Priolo 1448, Jason Pryde 1422, Taylor Milling 1420, David Priolo 1381, AJ Nash 1278, Brad Maiolo 1252, Daniel Harding 1236, Ben Butcher 1100, Trevor Jolly 1078, Brock Zearfoss 1036, Robbie Farr 992, Jamie Oldfield 944, Jaydee Dack 938, Lynton Jeffrey 876, Cameron McKenzie 846, Scott Bogucki 840, Ryan Lancaster 840, Matthew Cross 802, Todd Davis 678, George Eaton 570, Shaun Bradford 548, Tom Callaghan 470, Daniel Hartigan 426, Trevor Reynolds 420, Jack Williamson 376, James McFadden 296, Paul Peet 258, Jamie Maiolo 226, Sean Zemunik 154, Murray Iwanow 116, Troy Lawson 104. 13.01.2022 To run one car up the front of the pack consistently in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series is a huge effort. You need to have all the boxes ticked that match up the driver and the car to the crew. So imagine how much of an effort it is to regularly run two cars at the pointy end of the field?... To see that commitment in play, you need to look no further than LJM Racing, Myalup WA that made a welcome return to two cars at the last round of the series. Brad Maiolo contested only a few shows last year while Jamie sat out the season and then Brad fronted for the first round of the current season where he started from P3 and dropped as low at 13th before crossing the line in 7th in the 30-lap feature race. Then at the King of Wings Brad was joined by Jamie on track for the first time in two seasons. Brad was third quickest in his qualifying group before he claimed a heat race win and also won the dash, setting up pole position for the 40-lap feature race. He won the early battle with Daniel Harding who started with him on the front row and led for about half the race distance, after being involved in a battle for the lead initially from Callum Williamson and then with Jason Kendrick before he spun out as Kendrick traded spots with him, with about 11 laps remaining. Brad then resumed his battle from P14 before clawing back to 10th by the end of the race. Jamie started the night by being fourth quickest in his group and then he took a third in his race race and sixth in the Dash. Despite being out of the seat for quite some time he showed why for many years he has been the benchmark in WA racing and started the main event from P6. Early on the elder of the two Maiolos dropped to 7th before getting to 4th by lap 7, only to be tagged by another car, suffering front-end damage and being out of the show. There is a strong chance that the drivers of both blue cars could be on the podium for the WA Sprintcar Championship this Saturday night. Be trackside to find out. 13.01.2022 UPDATED ** Drivers/owners who attend the briefing will receive 150 points towards the season-long championship in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series (equivalent to a feature race win) - as per previous years. The owner/driver meeting that gets underway at 9.30am will be followed by the Sprintcar Association of WA Annual General Meeting at 11am. **... While the final calendar for the 2020-21 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series is yet to be finalised, there are plenty of things happening behind the scenes to make the new season a big one. The SEG and the Sprintcar Association of WA have introduced a payment plan for membership for the new season - and thanks to long-time series sponsor Kincrome Tools - there is an incentive for teams that have paid off their fees by October. They will go into the draw for a $1000 tool box in a payment incentive that is similar to those used by many local governments for people to pay their rates. More details on this and the season ahead for 410 and 360 sprintcar drivers will be outlined at an information session at Burswood on Swan on Sunday, August 23, from 9.30am. The aim of the morning is simple - to outline the sprintcar season ahead and gain valuable feedback from drivers and team owners. Crew chiefs are also invited to attend. All drivers who attend on the day are asked to take their race suits and be prepared for video interviews and photographs. The session will wrap up with a few drinks and a sausage sizzle. For more information on the day call 9452 1616 or email [email protected] Proposed calendar - still to be confirmed October 24 - Perth Motorplex October 31 - Perth Motorplex November 4 - Perth Motorplex November 21 - Perth Motorplex December 5 - Perth Motorplex December 26 - Perth Motorplex December 28 - Perth Motorplex January 1 - Bunbury Speedway January 9 - Perth Motorplex February 3, 5-6 - Perth Motorplex - Australian Sprintcar Championship February 13 - Bunbury Speedway - World Series Sprintcars February 19-20 - Perth Motorplex - World Series Sprintcars TRIPLE CROWN February 27 - Bunbury - Krikke Boys March 13 - Perth Motorplex March 27 - Perth Motorplex

08.01.2022 Only one driver has played his Joker in the first two rounds of the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series with two rounds completed. That is James Inglis, who started fourth and finished second in the Scardifield's Smash Repairs King of Wings at the Perth Motorplex recently. Each driver can play their Joker card once during the season and they have to announce it at the drivers’ briefing before racing - this will see them double their feature race points later in the night.... So instead of banking 146 points for second, Inglis left the complex with 292 points. More importantly, it has elevated him to the top of the points chase. We should point out that the release issued immediately after the race meeting didn’t include Inglis’ points from the pre-season drivers’ launch where attending teams received 150 bonus points. However he has been given those points as he, like a few other drivers, were racing that day at Ellenbrook Speedway and were unable to attend. Playing the Joker card is always a gamble - have a bad night and it is considered a wasted opportunity - have a good night, like James Inglis Motorsport - and it will pay off handsomely. Who will be game enough to play their Joker this Saturday night? Be trackside to find out. Coyle is currently ninth in points after two rounds, but he could quite easily have been a lot higher.... In round one he started from P2 in the feature race and held that spot down until the mid point when a car spun in front of him on the main straight and he had no chance of evading it, heavily damaging the chassis. At the last round it started off brilliantly for Coyle who set the Victory 1 Performance, Inc. Quick Time but was then caught up with another car in his heat race, dropping him out of an automatic start in the 40-lap A Main. He had to start from P5 in the B Main and moved up to third, setting up a P19 start for the main event. Coyle was methodical in the main event and powered his way up to fifth by the journey’s end in what was a great comeback effort - being the KINCROME Hard Charger for the round. How will be go in the WA Sprintcar Championship this Saturday night? Be trackside to find out. 07.01.2022 While all the attention over the past week has been on the six-round WA Speedweek series, it is actually part of a bigger sprintcar series in WA - the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar series that runs over the length of the season. We have had four rounds of Speedweek, but have had seven rounds of the overall series. Dayne Kingshott, who finished 11th in the Ellenbrook round on Saturday night (after the team was forced to do a quick engine change before the final), still leads the...Continue reading

07.01.2022 EASTER TREAT AS 2020/21 WORLD SERIES SPRINTCARS CALENDAR UNVEILED A packed World Series Sprintcars draft calendar has been unveiled for the 2020/21 season, with... 14 rounds of racing spread across two months and five states. Broadly similar to last years successful schedule, the calendar has been tweaked to work in with the Australian title in Perth in early February. This provides teams with a great opportunity to compete in both their national championship and the premier Sprintcar series in the country. The Speedweek and Sunshine Swings are a little more compressed than last year due to the fall of the calendar, but two rounds in late January in South Australia are the beneficiary of this. The decision to add new tracks to the roster paid dividends in 2019/20, and this year Whyalla (SA) and Geraldton (WA) will also join the party. Geraldtons President Peter Dowie was excited about the impact the event will have on their community, stating this is easily the biggest thing to ever happen to our track, with a Thursday night show being the first opportunity for the new national champion to run as #1 a few days after the national title. Whyalla in South Australia is conveniently located on the start of the trip west, and has secured a coveted Saturday night round on January 30. Club spokesperson Michael Brown was rapt to have WSS coming to town. Its the pinnacle of Australian speedway, and were excited to be involved and have a crack. Maryborough and Lismore also return after successful events earlier this year, while debutants Esperance will be back in 2022 when the schedule is more convenient. The full draft 2020/21 calendar is below, and subject to change. Expressions of interest from teams interested in contracting are now open, via the usual contacts. WSS Speedweek December 26/27 Murray Bridge Speedway - SA December 28, Borderline Speedway - Mount Gambier, SA December 30, Avalon Raceway - Geelong VIC January 1, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool - VIC Sunshine Swing January 3, Archerfield Speedway Brisbane - QLD (Sunday) January 5, Maryborough Speedway QLD (Tuesday) January 8/9, Archerfield Speedway, Brisbane (Australian Open) - QLD January 12, Lismore Speedway NSW (Tuesday) January 29, Murray Bridge Speedway - SA (Fri) January 30, Whyalla Speedway Club Inc. - SA (Saturday) Western Swing February 11, Geraldton Speedway - WA (Thursday) February 13, Bunbury Speedway - WA February 19, Perth Motorplex - WA February 20, Perth Motorplex - WA

05.01.2022 On his fourth outing here on WA soil American Brock Zearfoss finally struck the blow he and team owner Sean Carren were looking for when they claimed the fourth round of WA Speedweek at Ellenbrook Speedway on Saturday evening. In a twilight show at a venue that normally only hosts speedway in the winter season, Zearfoss started from pole position for the 30-lap feature race that fired into action as the sun set on the northern Perth location in front of an appreciative crowd....Continue reading
05.01.2022 Throughout the season there have been some great hard charging moments in our feature races. The drivers deemed the best hard charger in each of the rounds of the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series have been rewarded the KINCROME Hard Charger award. Thanks to the ongoing support from Kincrome, most of the drivers who have collected the awards this season were presented with a tool package, valued at about $300 each - at the Grand Final meeting on April 17.... Some drivers collected multiple prizes. Troy Lawson, who started from p10 and dropped down to p14 before getting up to finish 8th at the last show - is the latest Hard Charger award winner and he will receive his prize at the upcoming awards night, where other series contingency awards will also be presented. Well done to all drivers and thanks once again to KINCROME.

04.01.2022 THE Sprintcar Entrants Group has released a draft calendar for the 2020-21 Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series. In light of the current economic climate, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to only have 16 nights of racing to reduce the pressure on teams and hopefully encourage more drivers to contest all rounds. The Triple Crown races at the back end of the season will still be part of the calendar.... A highlight of the summer of racing in WA will be the running of the Australian Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex on February 5-6. Proposed calendar October 24 Motorplex - Power Palooza October 31 Motorplex November 14 Motorplex - King of Wings November 21 Motorplex - City of Kwinana Cup December 5 Motorplex - John Day Classic December 26 Motorplex - Speedweek December 28 Motorplex - Speedweek January 1 Bunbury - Speedweek January 9 Motorplex - Late Models February 3, 5-6 Motorplex - Australian Sprintcar Championship February 13 Bunbury - World Series Sprintcars February 19-20 Motorplex - World Series Sprintcars TRIPLE CROWN February 27 Bunbury - Krikke Boys March 13 Motorplex - Silver Cup March 27 Motorplex - Gold Cup Grand Final At the moment everyone knows the Perth Motorplex is currently closed, but VenuesWest offers the following statement. VenuesWest has advised consistently that our belief is that the Motorplex is best owned and run by the private sector - pursuit of that objective continues. ...The Motorplex is currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. It is not expected to reopen before the end of the usual winter recess. VenuesWest is currently funded by the Government to run the Motorplex in 2020-21 and should major event restrictions be lifted, consideration of next years operations will occur. Given the lack of certainty re an opening date, all staff have been paid till the end of their contracts in May, unfortunately those contracts have not been extended. The Sprintcar Entrants Group will continue to work with VenuesWest and should we have any updates, we will notify all drivers, team owners and racefans on the proposed calendar and season.

02.01.2022 A bit of controversy marred the third heat race after there was contact between James Inglis and Lynton Jeffrey at the back of the pack about mid race distance. As a result of contact Inglis spun around on the back straight with front end damage and then remonstrated with Jeffrey by throwing his steering wheel. Despite that David Priolo took full advantage of a front row start to win the race from the fast finishing Brock Zearfoss who started p4.... Scott Bogucki took third from Kris Coyle, Jeffrey, Jaydee Dack and Ben Butcher. Inglis was a non finisher. Pic Richard Hathaway Photography.
02.01.2022 Start your engines: Racing to resume at Perth Motorplex Perth Motorplex will reopen in August for track hire and in October for the drag racing and speedway season following a five-month closure due to COVID-19 Current venue operator VenuesWest is planning to transition to a new venue operator later in this financial year Planning for the 2020-21 motorsports season is underway... The roar of dragsters and speedway cars will once again be heard at Perth Motorplex come October. COVID-19 caused an early end to the 2019-20 season followed by a complete venue closure over the winter months. VenuesWest will now finalise the process to secure a suitable venue operator. It is planned for a new operator to take over part way through the 2020-21 season. The season will be prepared under current COVID-19 restrictions, with the flexibility to adapt closer to the commencement of the season should restrictions change. An extensive transition plan will be implemented to ensure a smooth handover to the new operator, so motorsports competitors and fans can be assured that the return to racing will be as seamless as possible. Perth Motorplex achieved great results across drag racing, speedway, burnouts and special events last season and VenuesWest, looks forward to building on that success in the coming season. I look forward to another successful year of racing and events at WAs best motorsports facility," said Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray. The appointment of a new venue operator for Perth Motorplex will give long term assurance to the motorsports community. VenuesWest and its staff should be congratulated for their interim management of Perth Motorplex through the process to secure a long-term venue operator and I look forward to that announcement in due course.
