22.01.2022 Maddock Interiors recently spent some time in Marrakech and has brought back a snippet from the breath-taking Royal Mansour Hotel. Here I experienced true jaw dropping excitement from the moment I saw their grand front entrance to walking through the unbelievably & luxuriously designed atrium. From the handcrafted frameworks to the fountains and mosaic work, the classic wallpapers and the many sitting rooms, every inch is designed with such close eye for detail it truly expresses traditional culture with modern and classic touches. Not only was the design amazing, the service, the food and friendliness of the staff made the experience truly unforgettable.

This can easily be made with some lighting, coat of white to brighten, lots of cushions, a rug and a "do not disturb" sign and your set! 13.01.2022 Having traditional tea in a Berber village in Ourzazate- Morocco It was a step into the past and culture as we walked into the room that surrounded us with beautiful, colour rich rugs all handmade by the man himself and his family. While sipping - or should I say drinking, (it was too delicious) we were talked through the process it takes for them to make one of these rugs, some taking 6-12 months depending on the design. The rugs are made from natural fibres such as cactus, ...sheep's, lamb & camel wools. The colours used are selections of natural and locally found dyes such as: Indigo, makes that deep blue in the rug pictured behind Alfalfa plant, to make green Saffron/and henna create yellows and oranges Rose petals for pink Lavender for purples Henna and poppy making a beautiful red In order for the colours to fix they use mineral salt and vinegar, the rugs are highly durable and last up to 100 years!! I was so stocked with my purchase especially because it goes straight to his village, and it didn't dent my savings. See more
