20.01.2022 A D I F Today I reworked this piece, Adif’s Moons, four times (sanding, painting, sanding it all off) until it ‘felt’ right. Kind of like when you’ve curled into bed and can’t get comfortable until your head is half on the pillow, half off, with one leg sticking out of the bed so maybe you’ll catch the breeze from the window but not get cold and your hands are in the right spot under the pillow so you feel snug but not stuck. Or something like that.

And it framed a lot of my decision making. And forced me to become uncomfortably vulnerable around the people I love. 02.01.2022 the best thing about teaching yourself how to do things is that you find new ways of doing old things. that’s a paint brush with less than ten stringy bits on it (I cut the rest off) and I’m pretty sure most woodworkers would tell me all the ways I’m doing this wrong. especially with over 3.5m to go. p.s. I’m back.

01.01.2022 So what you’re gonna want to do is - take on a job that’s a bar bench and it’s 4m x 2m and then you’re gonna wanna make the whole serving bench out of reclaimed floorboards that need to be planed down to remove all the uggo old stuff and then you’re gonna hand paint the entire thing and seal it to make the grain pop and then wonder why you haven’t had a weekend off in over four months. That, my friend, is how you lose your sanity.
