23.01.2022 ?? WHY DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU SEE ON INSTAGRAM ?? Instagram invited some tech reporters to an event to sit them down and explain why we see what we see on instagram at the moment (i.e. how the algorithm is working!). This is amazing because a lot of the time it's some 'expert' who has no affiliation with instagram talking about how things are working. So here are the details on the three factors Instagram is taking into account right now:... Interest - Instagram predicts how 'interesting' you'll find a post. Is it relevant and is it similar with content you've engaged with previously? The more they think you'll like it, the higher it will appear in your feed. Timeliness - how long ago was it posted? Instagram is now going to prioritise more recent posts so you'll be seeing less content from a week ago. Relationship - how do you know this person? Insta is going to prioritise content from friends and family. How do they determine this? Well, if you often engage with their content, tag them in things and are tagged in pics with them they will fall into the friends and family category. Other factors that will influence what you see include how often you open the Instagram app, how many people/brands you follow and how long you spend on Instagram during each session. See more

23.01.2022 It's easy to get caught up obsessing over the levels of engagement and followers your business' social media accounts are getting. And while likes and followers are great... if they're not translating to sales or leads, you've got a major problem. Not sure whether your social media presence is REALLY helping your business? It’s impossible to measure your social media ROI without keeping a close eye on your metrics. Whether you're measuring website traffic via link clicks, conversions (sales or leads), or just brand awareness, know what your business goals are on social media, measure your analytics accordingly, and you'll be set to track your performance beyond likes and follows.

22.01.2022 IN SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS... Backpedalling on their ethos of authenticity and originality, Instagram are introducing a new feature that allows you to post the same content to multiple accounts at the same time. Read more:

21.01.2022 Instead of focusing on social media as something additional to maintain that provides relatively little value, brands are starting to shift their thinking. Social media is an extension of your brand, and how people perceive your identity can lead to greater awareness and profitability. The bottom line... social media can have a huge impact on your sales figures at the end of the day. As little as 30 minutes a day dedicated to working on your social media strategy is all you need to get started.

20.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW 55% of all page views only get a few seconds of attention. In other words, when it comes to your digital assets, first impressions are EVERYTHING. Your design needs to be spot on. Your branding thought through. Your hook had better be intriguing. And QUICK. Assuming all these things are on point you’ve now got to keep your audience’s attention with some bloody good copywriting. If you’re welcoming your audience to your website, EDM or social post with bland and... unengaging content you can kiss any hope of traffic and engagement goodbye. The good news is, killer copywriting is absolutely a skill that you can develop I’m also one of those people that experiences a deep burning rage every time I read rubbish copy so I’ve decided that starting now, every Monday, I’m going to share my tips to turn your copy from meh to a-ma-zing! The first thing that seasoned copywriters consider is HOW TO MAKE THE READER EXPERIENCE WHAT THEY’RE WRITING ABOUT. Ever seen master storytellers at work? It’s amazing how they can capture your attention and make you forget what’s happening around you. When they’re telling a story, it feels like you’re in that story. And the cool thing is: your brain thinks you are. When someone tells you a story, your brain couples itself to that of the person telling it. You don’t just imagine what they’re saying, you experience it as well. It’s that ability to generate emotions within your reader that makes storytelling so powerful. If you can make people experience what you’re saying, your content will stand out head and shoulders above your competition. : Jasmine Dowling, who always nails the design, hook, copy, and just about everything else!

20.01.2022 Instagram is all about community. The algorithm tracks the way we use the platform, so engage with your followers in a genuine way and you're highly likely to get better engagement in return!

19.01.2022 EMAIL MARKETING 101 So many clients tell me they have the same frustrations towards EDM (Electronic Direct Mail)... they’ve spent hours crafting the perfect little Mailchimp campaign to send to their hard earned subscriber list, only to find the stats on their opens and clicks are lower than they had hoped It doesn’t need to be so hard! Try these 8 simple tips to get your emails open, read, and clicked:... 1. Stop talking about your list. Stop talking about subscribers. Write as if you’re emailing ONE person only. It instantly makes your emails more personal. 2. Quit wasting people’s time. Only email when you have something truly valuable or helpful to say 3. Be useful! Don’t just email when you need something from your readers. Be helpful. Be generous. Be friendly! 4. Use your actual name as your from address. Put your name and reputation on the line. That’s more personal isn’t it? 5. Be trustworthy. Let people know what to expect. Yes, sales messages should be part of your email marketing, that’s fine. Just be clear about it when they sign up. 6. Don’t be creepy! Feel free to personalise emails, but don’t repeat people’s name too often (it makes you sound like a call centre script). 7. Be on their side. Remind people that they’re not alone. Tell them you understand their struggles. Empathise with them, and ask how you can help. 8. Give people a reward for reading Make sure people benefit from reading your emails. How? Share a useful tip. Make them feel better. Inspire them. Enviable desk situation pictured courtesy of An Organised Life

18.01.2022 FACT: Every time you use an apostrophe to make a word plural, a kitten dies. Today's copywriting tip, obvious though it may be... Spellcheck yourself before you wreck yourself.

15.01.2022 Where it all began...

15.01.2022 Social Media Rule #1: If your content doesn’t offer some type of value to your audience, it’s not going to get a ‘like’! Simple as that! But what is value, I hear you ask...? Value within your content can come in the form of educational value, inspirational value, entertainment value, emotional value, or newsworthy value. Make sense? So next time you’re about to post, ask yourself... Does this piece of content really serve my audience?

15.01.2022 COPYWRITING MONDAYS // Today's tip: Start with a punch, end with a kick. In 1962, a psychologist by the name of Bennet Murdock conducted an experiment where he gave a group of people a list of words. Afterwards, he asked them to recall as many words as possible. He found that when people had to recall items from a list, they’re more likely to remember the first and last items. The first item because it gets the most attention, the last item because it’s the most recent. This... became known as the serial positioning effect. When you’re writing content, your intro and your conclusion are the two most important sections of them all. Your intro gets the most attention and needs to drag people in... while your conclusion is the last thing people see and contains your call to action. Happy copywriting! : Think BOLD

13.01.2022 Working on content development strategies for one of my favourite New York based clients today... Then came across this beautiful shot from @worldtrav.el which shows my old office! Happy memories from where it all began...

13.01.2022 The best way to generate leads? Approach each customer with the idea of helping them solve a problem or achieve a goal, not of selling a product or service. If you're not taking care of your customer, your competitor will!

12.01.2022 FACT: Humans are visual creatures. They process visuals 60,000 times faster than plain text, making visual content a lot more popular than plain textual information. The lesson? Make visual communication a core part of your brand's marketing strategy on every single platform you use - even Twitter, where Tweets with images are proven to get 150% more retweets! : @wild.rocks .

10.01.2022 HOW DO YOU KNOW THE RIGHT TIMES TO POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA? The biggest mistake so many businesses make is letting a blog or anyone else tell them when is the right time to post on social media everyone seems to have a different ‘ideal’ time. The idea that you HAVE to post during the morning or evening commute is super outdated - in fact, the algorithm almost guarantees that your posts will be delivered to a portion of your followers long after you've actually poste...d. The simple solution? You need to find out when YOUR audience is online. Luckily, this is super easy. Simply go to your page insights on Facebook, hit ‘posts’ and the very first tab shows you when your audience is online! For Instagram, make sure your page has been converted to a Business Account (this is free), then you'll be able find your Instagram insights in the toolbar on the top of your profile. See more

05.01.2022 Whatever you’re doing, people buy from people. You need to be trusted. No trust = no sales. Without sales, you’re not helping people with whatever it is your business is doing. To understand and trust you, people want to know your story

04.01.2022 Every image, every word, every tweet, every Instagram story... these all need to tie in to the BIGGER PICTURE that is communicating your brand to your dream client/ customer. Every single touch point says something about your business; don’t let any areas fall silent!

03.01.2022 COPYWRITING MONDAYS // Today's tip: WHEN IN DOUBT, READ IT OUT LOUD. A good way to make your content more powerful is to start reading it out loud. This is because, unless you practice speed-reading, you use your inner voice to read words out loud in your head. The technical term for this is 'sub-vocalisation' - which basically makes it easier for your brain to understand what you’re reading.... By making sure it sounds good, you’re making it easy for your readers to digest what you’re saying. They’ll be able to focus on the message instead of the words. #WINNING. Reading your content out loud also helps you iron out any kinks in your content. You’ll quickly realise when paragraphs don’t work, when sentences are wonky, or when words don’t flow. Plus, your office buddies are going to love hearing you read that 140-page contract several times out loud : An Organised Life - Bookkeeping and Organising

02.01.2022 Friday's dilemma at our office: choosing which of the Paddington pubs to have after work drinks... Happy Friday friends!

02.01.2022 It's here! Instagram's newest feature, #IGTV, is officially up and running! "WTF is IGTV??", I hear you ask. Fear not friends - this guide from our mates at Later tells you everything you need to know. Happy IGTVing!

01.01.2022 People buy results, not features. Rather than leading your content strategy with "here's what our product can do", focus on marketing with the message of "here's what YOU can do with our product."
