21.01.2022 I am always reminded when someone new is present how much work saggar firing really is...the questions & the looks of surprise (& sometimes fear) on the faces of new invitees to the process are priceless. & you do this every firing...move this half tonne of bricks from here to there (& back) & climb up scaffolding to load the top layer, & balance bricks on their side with heavy refractory shelves on top, with no mortar or anything to hold them in place while loading full of ...fragile ceramics, then add more layers on top of that...you do this every time? Yes. That’s what we do. Every 7 weeks. This is what we do after we’ve spent the 3 weeks prior making the work, & first firing it in the relatively easy electric kiln to vitrify it. We then spend the three weeks after the saggar firing sanding, scrubbing, & sealing every piece before packing & shipping it to you. A labour of love. See more

19.01.2022 The saggar packing game of Tetris... It’s firing day today, & so yesterday we packed the big gas kiln with 6 giant purpose built brick saggars (containers), each about 2m long, stacked three high & two wide on a base of refractory shelves, each layer separated by kiln bricks to allow airflow & give the flames somewhere to meander & search for oxygen later while under heavy reduction. She is packed full of goodies for special people (maybe you?) & this firing contains many mar...k making oxides & minerals currently locked inside the organic matter we forage for & find upon this beautiful land we live on. We use native flora only, in homage to the local land; Bunya, Banksia, Macadamia, Pandanus, plus Crocodile & Emu Eggshell from the north & south. These mark making materials will be coaxed out of their current inert state & become vapours that fuse with the clay via the alchemy of saggar firing...with a little magic & a lot of love. See more

11.01.2022 Hello Spring Tableware: Minimalist Range & Wabi Sabi Range.
11.01.2022 We may now be located in an industrial estate instead of in the big scrub, but make no mistake, Australian animals still don’t care about the rules...I found him in the Gathering Space, perched on a yoga mat in front of the display cabinets (full of all your fragile Xmas ceramics) & when I shooed him out he was most unhappy to be sent outside, & tried really hard to come back in! Persistent little guy, I had to lure him out with a watermelon in the end!

I’m making oils infused with herbs from the garden, as I do every change of season...to think we used to get burned at the stake for making such healing potions. This one has Rosehip, Sweet Almond, & Neem oils, with Thyme, Rosemary, & Thai Basil flowers from my herb garden, & Tiger Eye, Bloodstone, & Clear Quartz crystals. A salute to all the healers/shamans/witches/women of the world who nurture our true nature, calling you in, even while the others try to call us out.
