25.01.2022 Here's a tip for gardening with blackberry - DON'T

24.01.2022 This homeowner had a water leak in the shower and thought she was faced with a complete bathroom renovation. We found the leak was not the plumbing but rather a deterioration of grout and sealer around the shower base. We got the homeowner involved in the repair job, teaching her how to :- remove old grout, apply new grout, seal the base and corners with silicone and finally seal the grout. ... She now has a shower free from leaks; but more importantly she also now has the skills to continue this type of repair/refresh throughout the rest of the bathroom.

24.01.2022 We have just spent 3 weeks in sunny Queensland, doing some jobs, watching some whales and sweating it out in the heat (I think someone forgot to tell Qld it is actually winter at the moment). Over the coming weeks I'll post some pics and descriptions of our northern projects.

22.01.2022 Polished hardwood floors look great, but if you're not lucky enough to have nice floorboards which can be restored, then timber laminate floating floors are a good alternative. Add a decorative hall runner and you have a warm welcoming feel to your home.

14.01.2022 Are you ready for the cold, windy weather? This back porch wind-break was broken beyond repair. We built new framework and sheeted with durable UV poly-carbonate to protect from the harsh sun and biting wind.

14.01.2022 Landscaping is one of our favourite things, especially creating garden rooms. This was a forgotten corner of the yard where the grass couldn't grow under the big trees and it was just dirt, a dead tree and a few scraggly weeds. Now it's a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a coffee in the morning sun in winter and the wonderful shade in summer.

13.01.2022 Our last job for this year was a surprise garden makeover for some wonderful friends of ours. So many yards have that one area which we never use. It's the dead corner, the narrow bit along the side of the house or that space where lawn clippings are chucked and generally neglected. Come on, admit it, you all have (or have had) a space like that. This neglected corner gets amazing full sun just perfect for a raised vege garden, with space for some organised composting, a ...defined bed for shrubs and a spot to sit and enjoy. This dead corner has now become the life of the party. Oh, and our dear friends just love it

13.01.2022 Great fun doing a shed on a treated pine base. We haven't done one of these in quite a while. :) Couple of days of hard slog in unusually hot weather for Tassie, but worth it for the end result. For those not wanting hints and tips, here is the short version of the video. Enjoy :D

13.01.2022 In among our other jobs, we have been slowly renovating our own home here in Launceston. Here are some real estate Before and After shots. Same house, same real estate agency, same camera angles. Can you spot the differences?

12.01.2022 Spring flowers are blooming, but unfortunately so are the weeds. If your beds look a bit like the images on the left, then now is the time to get stuck into some serious garden maintenance. You will be beautifully rewarded

11.01.2022 There's a great place for arts and crafts in Launceston, called The She Shed Creative Arts, run by a lovely lady who gives so much of her time and knowledge. Some of her members have donated a whirly bird and insulation batts to make the 'shed' more comfortable both in summer and winter. We were delighted to also donate some other materials as well as our time to install these things. The "She Shed" ceiling is now fully lined and insulated and feels much cooler, and strang...ely feels much larger too. This was a lovely project to be involved in and I hope the ladies enjoy their creative space for years to come :)

11.01.2022 Garden sheds are not just for garden tools. Tricycles were taking up valuable indoor space at a child centre. They also had a 'dead corner space' in the yard. A small 2.3m shed fitted perfectly and we suggested lining the back wall and fixing hanging brackets for the bikes. Now they can store the bikes and still have plenty of room for other things; plus maximise their indoor play space.

11.01.2022 Today's workmates :) Knocked over a couple of quick little jobs in another cute country town. Installed a new washing line (we concreted the post a few days ago) and replaced a broken fence paling. No job is too small for MTO, in fact we love these jobs as much as any other.

11.01.2022 Updating the hallway in our own house this weekend. Ah, the frustration of getting to the end of a box of laminate boards and you find you need just two more boards. Oh well, back to Bunnings for another box. I'm sure we'll find a use for the leftovers :)

10.01.2022 Today's jobsite. Such a beautiful day to be in the country.

10.01.2022 It doesn't get much more Aussie than building a tin shed in the backyard behind the Hills Hoist. Happy Australia Day everyone.

10.01.2022 Remember our post about the deck we built in Queensland? The owners have kindly sent us some photos of their now fully finished space with secured screening, furniture and plants. It looks fantastic. Well done guys :)

08.01.2022 It's always a good idea to avoid timber structures right up against your house, particularly if you're in a termite prone area like this Queensland home owner. On our trip up north we built this cute deck at the front the property, making sure there was clearance between the structure and the house. We've worked with these home owners a few times now, involving them in their projects and honing their skills to DIY. They have since added finishing touches by oiling the de...ck and erecting privacy screens themselves. We are so proud of our customers when they venture into their own DIY projects and produce great results. Well done guys!!

05.01.2022 Quite often when you think garden shed, you think concrete slab. Here's an example of a garden shed on a raised timber base we recently constructed. No hassles about hiring mixers or having concrete delivered and no waiting for curing times.

04.01.2022 A new year begins and so does a new garden to tidy. Yes, the weather is hot and dry right now, but I do love working outdoors. If you have a garden project you want to get started, please get in touch
