02.01.2022 Keen to enter this weekend's MAD Rush? Here's the important info: The race starts at 2pm on Saturday. We recommend you get to the park with plenty of time to set up your team / transition area. This will be clearly marked. Your area should have room for your team members as well as food / drinks required during the race. As this is a day/night race, lasting six-hours, those riders completing laps in the last two hours will need lights. It's recommended you do a night rid...e around your local area to get a feel for the lights (where they project to and weight) and ensure they are in working order BEFORE the race. This is an event for all ages. Under 11 and u13 will compete on a half course, with their race running for three hours as a team. You can compete as individual, pair or team of 3 or 4. Each rider needs to have current MTBA membership. Race nominations are here: https://online.mtba.org.au/ERegister.aspx?E=8339 Volunteer nominations here: https://mackayanddistrictmountainbikeclub.volunteerlocal.co

02.01.2022 Podiums were unable to be conducted normally due to Covid when an altered podium went to be ran most people had already left. Below is a rundown of the top runners as well as results: Cooper Hines was the only dirt master so had a race with the bigger kids which he easily won. Alex Bogna (solo) was battling with Big Fockers (Ethan and Braith) for the overall lead for the majority of the race but after Ethan's chain got twisted Alex was able to secure the overall win by a lap ...as well as the win in solos completing 17 laps, over 100km. In third place for the overall and first in the teams of three taking the name quite literally came Blood, Sweat and Beers (Adrian, Steven and Niall) with 13 laps. Coming fourth in the overall by just 12 minutes came the father-son team of Twin Diesel (Dylan and Barry) who also manage to pick up second in the team of twos. Ryan Corry was in no man's land for most of the race and managed 12 laps to pick up second in the solo men's and fifth in the overall. Even with a wheel that didn't want to stay inflated Andrew Hines was able to get third in solo men's with only 14 minutes separating Brian Kehres, Chirs Becker and Tomas Heikkinen who also managed seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth in the overall. Solo men's was rounded out by Jason Hughes coming in seventh after putting in a mammoth day Friday and Saturday before the race to get the track setup. After Jason came Stephen Weiss unable to keep up with the pace set by his son and Greg McGahan who wasn't able to get the better of Amelia claiming she has an unfair advantage. Anne-Marie Kehres made the trip from Proserpine and even with a crash claimed the victory in solo women with ten laps followed by Amelia McGahan with six. There was one entry in the team of fours with Even Rougher Riders (Maree, Joseph, Adam and Alison) able to complete 11 laps getting them sixth in the overall. Rounding out the team of twos was Cyber Speedsters (Harry and Cooper) with 11 laps giving it there absolute all and I'm sure they had a good nights rest after that performance. In the three-hour u13 race No Justoos (Noah, Justin and Nehemiah) were able to edge out Little Nuggets (Remy, Cody and Dylan) by one lap on a shorter course. In the solo three-hour category (age 16 and under) Oliver Rivers completed two laps and was the winner. Thank you to all the people who came out to race, Ian Guy for organising the marshalls and being the first aid officer, Shane Hellwedge for doing the timing and keeping the show running, The two marshalls Glenn Hall and Jenny Maria who stayed in the bush for the whole six hours, Jason Hughes and Andy Pate who set up the track Friday and Saturday. Races like these would not be able to run without you. Hopefully, next year will be bigger and better with more people able to make it out. https://my.raceresult.com/158978/?lang=en
