21.01.2022 After the devastating bush fires in January the Maffra Golf Club (MGC) in conjunction with Energis Energy solutions were about to run a charity golf day to raise some funds to buy the Mallacoota Golf Club some equipment that was destroyed in the fires, this equipment being Flags, Cups and Tee markers, unfortunately due to the corona virus we weren’t able to run the golf event. Although along with the golf event the MGC ran a Special Effort raffle which was kindly supported by... the Rich River Golf and Country Club donating a weekend for 4 people as the major prize and the MGC added a golf club membership and a Webber BBQ. This raffle raised enough funds to cover the purchase of the equipment which was sourced from David Golf in Melbourne who supplied it at a reduced price. As the covid restrictions prevented us from getting to Mallacoota for a number of months we weren’t able hand the equipment over until November some 8 months after the fire. Captain Sandy Murray had a weekend at Mallacoota and presented the equipment to the club who were extremely appreciative of the support they have received from not only the Maffra Golf Club but from many small and some larger organizations since the fire raged through their tiny hamlet. The Mallacoota golf club has engaged a course designer and have plans to change the course into a true links golf course without bunkers, hopefully being awarded a substantial grant to cover most of the new development. They have had a massive clean up of the burnt melaleuca trees with equipment donated to the club which has changed the course outlook already providing expansive views of the ocean. 20.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Some more information regarding Covid19 There will be a booking sheet for every day of the week on the website ALL members MUST book in advance of playing. This is required for contact tracing purposes Once arriving on site, ALL members must check in to the kiosk regardless of whether there is a competition or not, again for Covid contact tracing requirements.... Members can only book one other member in online On normal competition days, times will be blocked out for certain categories ie. On Thursday the tee times will be blocked from 0900 to 1130 for ladies competition only. Male members and booked guests will only be able to book around those times. (times shown are a guide onlythe live sheets will be what is available to you ALL COMPETITIONS WILL BE CALLED Daily Competition and Registration (insert day of week). This is a standard booking timesheet for every day in groups of 2. Competition formats will run adjacent to each day's sheet, please record all your gross scores for the kiosk as normal and the system will convert to whether it is a stroke, stableford or par round. Go to www.maffragolf.com.au and follow the prompts for all your information and booking schedules which are live updated. This will be ready tomorrow morning. NO MEMBERS CAN REGISTER GUESTS OR GREEN FEE PLAYERS NEW HIRE CARTS Our Brand New Carts arrive tomorrow, and you can take advantage straight away of the fantastic $20 set hire for the introductory period. 04.01.2022 The Maffra Plate proudly sponsored by Vendi Golf was contested for on Sunday November 15th in warm sultry conditions, only one short shower of rain at the beginning of the round which cleared quickly and became a very pleasant day for golf. There were 104 contestants representing 15 local clubs from Garfield to Bairnsdale. the scoring method was Stableford. The clubs provide teams of 4 which are separated into pairs playing alongside another pair from another club which enhan...ces the clubs interaction and enables people to meet other golfers. The best 3 scores of the 4 players in the team are combined to find the winning score and the 4th score is used if a count back is required. The eventual winners were the Maffra Number 3 team with 110 points consisting of Andrew Harrigan, Zac Harrigan, Max Knobel & Brett Johnson. 03.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Negotiating our way through the maze of changes at the moment is akin to herding cats! Nevertheless here are some more changes. 1. There will be no N.T.P.s for the next 6 weeks and D.T.L.s will be reduced to 6 only. 2.We will play stroke this Saturday, M.M. but all other competitions will be Stableford for the next 6 weeks. 3.We want our juniors to keep playing, so if they do not have a golf link number, they must ring Shawne on 0488710894 to get login details f...or the screen in the starter's box. By law everyone who plays must leave details to enable contact tracing. 4.Some of you have had difficulty logging in to the new time sheet so please contact Shawne on the above number. 5.There will be a monthly Vendi prize draw tomorrow, but it will then be suspended until after the lockdown. 6.The ladies can hit off 1 and 10 as usual, Shawne will readjust tomorrow's timesheet, but if it does not correspond to your arrival, just make suitable arrangements. It will work next week, even if tomorrow is a little chaotic.
