21.01.2022 This week is National Suicide Prevention Week in Australia and today is RUOK Day, lending an ear to the people who matter in your life. Because it's a lot easier to ask someone if they're okay than it is for them to tell you they're not. The theme for this year's RUOK Day is: "THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?'... 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK?Day well help Australians know what to say when someone says theyre not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before theyre in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. If you ask; R U Ok? Listen without judgement; encourage action; and follow up, you can make a positive difference to someones resilience and well being. Today at Magdalene we are encouraging students to check in with their friends and family, and think about how they can continue the conversation if they see that someone isnt OK. Its Ok to not be Ok!

15.01.2022 Today on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength of the Stolen Generation Survivors. We reflect with the following prayer - God of love and peace, you are full of mercy and compassion. Through your Son Jesus you show us how to live in harmony with others, to be peacemakers. Give us the grace we need to walk with others with courage and commitment. May we always be ready to admit our faults and seek forgiveness of those we have hurt.... Help us to be accepting and understanding so that our communities can be strong in peace. Amen. The displayed artwork is by our Aboriginal Support Officer - Caitie Oldfield, and is titled Intrinsic This work celebrates the interconnectedness of land and faith. The work incorporates the geographical location of the College and highlights the importance of spiritual connection that First Nations Peoples have with the land. With a large expanding circle in the centre representing the College and wider College community. Central to that is the star, representing the Star of Bethlehem. This highlights the importance of the Lord and that He is at the centre of the community. The flowing red stream symbolises the sacrifice of Jesus, as well as the parallelism of traditional healing smoke and the waters of baptism.
