We discovered @magformersaustralia magnetic construction toys around a year ago, and oh how we have not stopped loving this since then. It keeps the kids and adults both entertained, and test your level of creativity. True extent of surprises that these clever magnetic pieces bring are simply, limitless! Why I love this toy: ... (1) clever design, it takes away the negative-positive-repelling each other present in a usual magnet. You can easily combine and rotate and build the structure flexibly regardless of which position/side you are placing the magnetic pieces on each other. (2) super colourful!!! Just look at the pictures! Nuff said. (3) the adults get to have fun too with kids of all ages! You may follow the instructions and build structures as challenging as a giant Eiffel Tower or a tall giraffe with a slightly arched neck, or just a simple cube or pyramid. Everyone can have fun. Our 18-month-old loves sticking them on fridge and watching numerous colourful patterns formed, our 4-year-old love using the extra accessories like wheels etc to get his structure done (4) it’s educational- apart from building structures, some Magformer set has activity sheets available for kids to learn about shapes using the Magnetic pieces. 07.01.2022 Always valuable insights and lovely pics from Jen @where_learning_meets_play The little shelf For whatever reason, reorganising my children‘s spaces makes me feel like a slightly less crappy mum. It always has. Weird?? As we come to the end of the year that has been a transition for me to return properly to my career full time I can’t help but reflect on how much less I do for them now. I’m proud that they have stepped up and my hubby can take on a lot more tha...n he has in the past. And I can’t lie, I enjoy work, so being able to dedicate more time to it isn’t exactly a hardship. It’s definitely a happy place. But emotionally it’s hard to not be the centre at home anymore. Knowing they are doing well without me most of the time is unexpectedly challenging! Anyway, overall I know it’s a good thing, and to make myself feel needed I’ve spent a little time at home this morning reorganising things (no one else in my house does this). Organising is a strength of mine so I thrive on opportunities like this. . . This is the little shelf I’ve written about before and I would highly recommend it (or something similar) for toddlers and preschoolers. Having a little shelf set up with a few favourite things means there is a constant #invitationtoplay right there in the living room, that is easy to tidy up, and less overwhelming for the child (and parent/s). Libby has always loved it. Today I moved it from her bedroom to the living room and she has played with it constantly since.
