16.01.2022 What is Umami? it sounds like a cross of yummy and Tsunami and it is a kind of tidal wave of taste sensation in your mouth that you get from tasting our Magic Abalone Everyone knows of the main four flavours of food: sweet, sour, salty and bitter; in 2002 umami was officially accepted as a term for the "fifth taste" as umami receptors were discovered on the human tongue. Umami is a Japanese word that translates to "pleasant savory taste", foods that have a high level of ami...no acid glutamate give the best flavour of umami in food. 11.01.2022 Magic abalone tenders are Individually Quick Frozen: Our method for IQF does not allow any ice crystals to form in the meat cells. Also since each piece is individually frozen, our meat tenders do not cohere, and the final product is not frozen into a solid block. This makes our wild caught abalone keep its shape, colour, smell and ultimately its taste and texture after defrosting. The best method to thaw our IQF wild caught abalone is to leave it in an overnight chiller at ...around 5c, cover the abalone to avoid drying it out. This will ensure your abalone tenders are as ocean fresh as possible, retaining their texture flavour and magic. Please do not use water or heat to thaw out this will spoil all the freshness and tenderness we work so hard to retain :) Because our method of IQF retains so much of the abalone freshness and texture our abalone tenders can be used as if they are freshly caught straight out of the ocean. Once thawed these tasty tenders can be marinated, cooked fast and hot straight on the BBQ or sauteed with garlic, chilli and served with soba noodles, or slow and mellow heat simmering for an hour in a great fish stock with veggies soy sauce and palm sugar to make the most delicious abalone soup served with an artisan sourdough. Or keep it simple and put the tenders sliced in a fried rice to take your asian food to the next level. However you use them, be assured the hard work of catching, shelling, tenderising and slicing has all been prepared for your enjoyment and convenience.
