25.01.2022 Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Presentation Night (18/09/20) Great evening had by all. Thanks to the MAGIC Crew for an awesome (some would say "magic") 2019/20 season: - AMS Div1 SA State Championship Winners... - Premiers Cup Regatta Div1 AMS & IRC Winners - Great Southern Regatta Div1 AMS Winners - CYCSA Inshore Series Div1 AMS & IRC Runners-up I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who sailed with us in this, our first, season as owners of MAGIC. Thank you.

25.01.2022 Track from the recovery of MAGIC on 4 Dec. Very much a squiggle! Need a drogue to stabilise a boat without a rudder! Nothing to update yet. Boat is back in the berth, watertight. Working through Farr Yachts to get a new rudder!

25.01.2022 Another great day on the water today for the long race to Carcase Rock. We think the wind was 10-12kts but we don’t have an instruments at the moment! Great crew work yet again to secure a 2nd on AMS from Scarlet Runner.

24.01.2022 Magic working bee today. Doing the washing and diesel pumping. Thanks Sharon Lienert and Jennifer Telfer (visiting from Darwin)

23.01.2022 Tough day racing on Saturday in the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore Series. We were 1st and 2nd on Div1 AMS, posting speeds of 14+ kts in 20-23kts of breeze in the second race then the rudder broke off just after the finish Thanks to CYCSA2 committee boat, we were taken under tow with water coming in where the rudder used to be! Thanks to Robert Lawrie at North Haven Marine for coming out on a Sat night and setting up a bilge pump. Thanks to Andrew Smith for slipping MAGIC early on Sunday morning. Could have been a lot worse. Well done MAGIC crew for keeping calm under pressure.

22.01.2022 Some video footage from Day 2 At the Port Lincoln Regatta.

21.01.2022 MAGIC had to sit out the Twilight race tonight at Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia. We had the wrong mainsail on which we can’t reef. (Not great for racing in 25kts) Not enough time to run to the container to do a sail change, so we had a QLD instead in the bar. We’ll be back next week!

21.01.2022 MAGIC ready for 2020/21 season.

18.01.2022 Thanks Lisa Brock for posting this. We do need a deeper pool of people involved in managing racing at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia. Please pass this around.

17.01.2022 Lincoln planning night at Magic HQ A fun night.

16.01.2022 Magic Update - 17May2020 It has been a while since our last post. We have been chipping away at a number of jobs/upgrades on board over the COVID-19 shut-down. Finally today we have the custom (illuminated) "Man Over-Board" buttons at the helm positions (both port & starboard), hooked straight into the B&G H5000 computer, being modelled by Sharon Lienert. The B&G Graphic displays on deck automatically switch to MOB-mode and start navigation back to where the button was pressed. Hope we never need to use it! In other news, we have finally laid to rest the "demon" in our electronics that stopped all wind instrumentation for most of the Lincoln regatta this year. Traced to a new (and very intermittent) faulty network T junction. Maybe one day we can all go out sailing again!

16.01.2022 Nice afternoon on the water.

15.01.2022 Magic took one of our helpers, Richard Carter, out for crabbing today. Richard has a magic shed for doing mechanical repairs!

15.01.2022 Nice kite peel from A5 to S2 in the latter stages of Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore #4. Collectively we had never practiced this before! Went pretty well in the end. Well done MAGIC crew.

14.01.2022 Tacking just after the start to get clear air. Wind goes to 25 kts as we approach a starboard boat (Rock On).

13.01.2022 Race Start - Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Winter #6. MAGIC's first race in 6 months. Very rusty crew but 100% commitment!

13.01.2022 Unknown crew member found on our main halyard/topping lift last weekend! Does he/she belong to you?

13.01.2022 Final preparations all done for Presentation Night at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia. Be there at 6:30 SHARP as we kick off at 6:45.

12.01.2022 Magic Crew in Port Lincoln just after finishing the race. We were 7th on Div 1 AMS, with all the TP52s ahead of us. Fantastic result, from some great teamwork. Ours thanks from Sharon and I to our amazing crew; Robert Human (Tactician), Ian Metcalfe (Main), Richard Harries (Trim), Greg Wise (Trim), Roman Domaretski (Bow) and Simon Langbein (Mast). We are looking forward to the regatta which starts tomorrow.

12.01.2022 Magic Racing - 2nd on AMS in the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore #9 on 8Feb2020. Enjoying the flat seas and sometimes breezy conditions. Pictured here just before the starting gun on port tack (ie no rights).

09.01.2022 Breezy day on the water today, for Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore #8. Magic had some not-so-magic-moments, with a spinnaker that got loose from the foredeck hatch and became a trawling net. Pleasingly, we managed Div 1 1st AMS, 3rd IRC & 3rd PHS. Well done Team Magic - with some of the team members shown in the photo.

09.01.2022 Port-starboard decisions on-board Magic last Saturday, in the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Inshore series ...

01.01.2022 Magic booked in for repairs this afternoon at Marina Adelaide. Thank you to Adrian Wotton for helping me bring the boat around on a hot and very breezy day!

01.01.2022 Blowing out the cobwebs at 14 kts after over 6 months without a race. MAGIC was loving the breezy day!

13.12.2021 I think this must be a finish line picture, after we managed to get the new S2 kite down without broaching in 23-25kts. (Thanks for the picture Pat)

24.11.2021 Start of Race 3 Div 1 Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia this afternoon. I think we pretty much nailed it! More views of the side of Secret Mens Business Yachting and Hooligan (Nick Bice). Top day on the water. MAGIC crew worked hard for our 5th on AMS Div1.

11.11.2021 "General Recall" for the Div1 start today in Race 3 of the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Great Southern Regatta.

02.11.2021 Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia Start of Race 2 of the Great Southern Regatta. Tough day on the water for MAGIC with a DNF in the first race, but the 2nd race went well. Expecting milder conditions today.

13.10.2021 Solid start to the 2021/22 season for MAGIC, with 2nd place Div1 AMS. It could have all ended in tears though! This clip shows Div2 boats Kinetic Energy and Rock On on their way to the top mark, as we come down the course. Great day on the water. Thank you MAGIC crew!

09.10.2021 At the top mark.
