18.01.2022 EDIT: Job found! Thank you everyone for sharing our post, we have had such an overwhelming response! We have accepted a position in The Kimberley’s. Hi,... we are a family of 5 looking for a place to call home. We come with 12 years experience mainly from living on stations on the Barkly Tablelands. We have recently come from a caretakers position on the Barkly, where I was doing bore runs, grader work, checking cattle, servicing machines and all other necessary maintenance. My wife looked after the compound area with all lawn and garden maintenance, cleaning, looking after contractors and cooking for the stockcamp when mustering also ordering stores within budget. I have extensive knowledge around bores and maintenance (mono, solar & windmills). I have a high understanding of animal welfare, very competent in welding and fencing, I have my MC license and very confident on heavy machinery. As said above we are a package deal with 3 kids who currently do school of the air and we are looking for a place to call home. We are both up to date with our first aid (remote first aid) and have sound knowledge of RFDS chests and procedures. We aren’t horse people but like to help out at local events and are community hearted. If you think you may have a position for us, please don’t hesitate to message me for further information and phone contact. Can provide references. Cheers, Chris.

12.01.2022 BECOMING STRONGER BY THE DAY AND MAY PASS THE PEAK OF THE 2010-11 STRONG LA NIÑA! Already temps at Niño 3.4 are at -1.2c according to NOAA, the 2010-11 event p...eaked at -1.5 in December/January. It already has been a good yr for rainfall for parts of SA, Victoria, Tasmania and drought stricken NSW where much of the state drought declared areas have been lifted. There are now some stronger signals of substantial rainfall over large parts of Australia in the south east and east especially dry south east Queensland one of the few areas to receive little rainfall over the past 6 months so any rain from now on will be handy. The Southern Annual Mode (SAM) is expected to remain positive over the remainder of October. La Niña tends to favour positive SAM during the spring to summer months, which typically enhances the La Niña wet signal in eastern Australia. Meanwhile even though the whole Indian basin is warmer than normal the western side has rapidly warmed the past fortnight indicating that a negative IOD event is unlikely to develop this spring and will remain in that neutral phase however a warm Indian basin can also enhance wetter conditions through Spring and Summer but officially there is little to no chance that there will be an official negative IOD in 2020. Image one: Current ssts anomalies showing a full fledged mature La Niña in the Pacific which is expected to strengthen further in the coming months. Image two: Current temperature anomalies in the Equatorial Pacific showing Niño 3 temperatures have already fallen to -1.5 while Niño 3.4 has dipped down to -1.2 keeping in mind the 2010-11 event peaked at -1.5 Niño 3.4. Image thanks to NOAA. Image three and four showing rainfall possibilities across the country from the ECMWF and GFS model for the next 2 weeks covering most of the rest of October. Image five: Southern annular mode expected to remain positive rest of October which goes hand in hand with La Niña in the spring and summer months. Image six: MJO also in our favour through phase 4 and 5 which increases the chances of rainfall across parts of northern and eastern Australia through Spring and Summer and in the next fortnight it should mostly remain in phase 4 and 5. Remember this is a guide just cos it says 200mm in your area does not mean you will recently 200mm but it gives us an overall trend how things are becoming more wetter as the climate factor takes hold with a rising southern oscillation index which is starting to reflect from the coupling of the oceans and atmosphere.
