21.01.2022 IAS Fine Art Logistics pickup artifacts from Magnet which is one small part of a major historical photographic exhibition curated by Michael Silver It will be shown at the Mildura Arts Centre from Friday 19th February to Sunday 25th April . The exhibition is all about the life and work of Les Chandler and also his daughter Mary Chandler. Les was gassed and wounded in WW1 but he was remarkably resilient chap who worked incredibly hard on his soldier settler block in R...ed Cliffs. Les and Mary shared a vast range of remarkable skills including writing and photography, Les was an avid ornithologist, environmentalist , carver, writer, horticulturist, etc. etc. Mary was definitely equally talented and determined. She wrote beautifully and was a great organizer and planner. She was the glue that kept many community organizations together. Both of them never stopped.. Les was still climbing trees to photograph birds in his late 80's! Unfortunately I never met Les abut Mary was a very close friend until she died late last year. She was very proud of her dad and it is a shame she won't see the exhibition she so wanted to happen. Come and see the exhibition and "meet" the Chandlers......... The exhibition will also be shown at Magnet in Melbourne in June 2021.

21.01.2022 A visitor to Magnet today, my old friend Bruce Postle. A great photographer and a great person.

03.01.2022 Sad to hear of the death of Judith Henke who was the communications manager for the Melbourne Zoo I took photographs with Judith for around 10 years to help promote the Zoo. You can see one on citilink of the beautiful tiger Poetry after she gave birth to 2 cubs.

02.01.2022 Covid cases and deaths are going up like a moonshot in America and will continue to until Joe Biden can get his hand on the tiller. There are still 30-odd days ...until the Electoral College votes and 70+ until the new President is inaugurated. Does this seem like criminal madness to anyone else or just me?? In the 21st century it no longer takes weeks to get the votes to Washington DC by horse and cart. It's surely time to shorten the period between the voting, the EC and the Inauguration. Lives are at stake here, people, this actually MATTERS! See more

01.01.2022 I’m super excited to finally announce that my new book Second City is now open for pre-order. Available as both a Special Edition and Standard Edition. The Spec...ial Edition book is limited to 100 copies and comes with a slipcase and choice of one of three signed A4 Archival Giclee prints. Link to books here: http://www.jessemarlow.com/books Second City is a collection of 44 black and white candid street photographs from Jesse Marlow’s hometown Melbourne. Photographed between the years 1998-2004 the book depicts the city as it was before the boom of the mid 2000s. The book features a foreword by award winning Melbourne author Tony Birch @tony_birch_ and has been beautifully designed by Melbourne artist and designer Yanni Florence @yanniflorence When I was at photography school, every few weeks our photojournalism teacher would send the class off into the city on Citywalks. With an otherwise open brief, our only task was to keep an eye out for interesting scenes or moments. The aim was for students to open their minds visually by exploring our home town. I was instantly hooked by the freedom and unpredictability of shooting in this style. After studying, I spent the next five years exploring the Melbourne CBD thoroughfares and surrounding suburbs, slowly compiling the body of work Second City. I would often start and finish my day by sitting on the steps of Flinders Street Station, observing people as they moved in and around the iconic entrance and out onto the streets. The station steps were a wonderful backdrop for a street photographer. The scope and simplicity of being in and around the city with only a camera and a pocket full of film, is essentially something I continue to enjoy 20 years later. All orders will be shipped in mid January All registered postage costs are included in the sale price. Please select either ‘Australia’ or ‘Rest of the World’ when ordering
