25.01.2022 No pretty pictures today but we were on the mats last night and helping Murry get ready for his next grading. Was a chance for higher grades to brush up on the basics and work on variations and combinations from those base techniques.

24.01.2022 Caine didn't make it to class last night but it was described to him as "Murry got strangled." Which I suppose is fun as long as you aren't Murry! Thanks for always being a good sport Murry.

22.01.2022 Last night saw Murry practicing his throws/sweeps and standing counters for his next grading and left a little bit of free time to explore balance breaking and controlling movements. I think Murry is ready to step up to the next level!!

20.01.2022 Tonight saw us use rolling techniques to escape shoulder locks and explored ground escapes from common Immobisations. Ended in a free for all ground session with daniel exhausting himself going for 25 minutes straight on all challengers. Well done dan!

18.01.2022 Tonights session mostly focused on ground fighting techniques, with a focus on variations on sankaku jime (leg triangle strangle) and using it to create openings to other techniques. We also spent a small amount of time on judo style hip throws as well. Here's dan and murry working on the ground.

18.01.2022 Here's a clip from tonights training. We took a lowish, top mount "ground and pound" scenario. 1st sequence is big wild swings that dan deals with fairly easily. 2nd sequence is dan blocking out more structured punches and third sequence is quickly hooking the back of the arms to gain control. Music is Radiohead - the national anthem.

13.01.2022 Just a few snaps of the first training session of the decade! Showed murry entries into standing strangles and practiced getting positional advantage while on the ground.

09.01.2022 It is with regret that we temporarily close the doors to our little dojo. Due to the hands on, close personal nature of jiu jutsu, the rising threat of Covid-19 and recommendations from health authorities, we feel it is our responsibility to protect our members and the community as a whole. As such we will cease classes as of today until this threat becomes more controllable. We will post jiu jutsu related material on this site and share ideas for isolated practice so stay tuned. Until then, look after each other, wash your hands, keep sick kids out of school and stay safe.

09.01.2022 Class last night involved basic movements to advantageous positions and breaking the structure of an attacker. We had an interesting experience using Murry's wing chun movements as a lead in to our blocks and techniques. This reinforced the similarities between the styles and helped Murry understand our style better.

05.01.2022 LOTS of ground fighting last night. Ended with 5 minutes to go and eveyone exhausted on the floor. Good, hard training session last night guys.

04.01.2022 We did a session on kubi nage (neck hip throw) technique tonight. We looked at how distancing changes depending on the movement offered by the opponent and also worked various finishes for the throw (including aiki kubi nage from a heymaker punch). These included ground arm bars (udi hishigi juji gatame), hold downs (kesa gatame) and strangles (kata juji jime). Finished the class with a rotatating ground fighting session.

03.01.2022 We're back!!! Starting from tomorrow, normal training times are back on. We have spent the weekend cleaning all equipment and creating a covid safe plan to ensure the welfare of all students. See you on the mats!!

02.01.2022 Happy new year! We're hoping this year is less eventful than 2020. We've continued to train within the NSW government guidelines, going back to basics and recognising some over looked principles in basic our movements, then working to apply these in random scenarios, creating freedom of movement, better control and more efficient application of techniques.

02.01.2022 It was a bit slower paced class last night, focusing on technique. Sensei Dave showed some aiki entries into ju jutsu locks and we also practiced regaining the top position on the ground.
