21.01.2022 Saturday's golfing menu... Mens Monthly Medal and qualifying for the handicap matchplay. Womens stableford. Play well Magpies... 20% chance of being rained on!!

10.01.2022 In December two Magpies juniors represented the ACT in the Under 15 Championships. Amber Tilley, Christian Leggit and the team won silver, just losing to South Australia by two points. Congrats to the team and Amber and Christian for a top effort. While there Amber tracked down a random golfer for a quick photo. One day he may treasure that photo and say I met Amber Tilley once...

02.01.2022 Dear Member, Please accept my apologies for the lateness of this advice. We are currently in negotiations with ICON Water in an attempt to have our water charges reduced and work will soon commence on the 5th dam pump pick-up de-silting/expansion works. As you’re aware, however, we’re in one of our worst droughts and are now totally reliant on purchased recycled water for our course needs. This water comes at significant costs and despite our best efforts to reduce water con...sumption, our December water bill exceeded $53,000 and we expect similar monthly bills for the foreseeable future. Put simply, the Club cannot afford these amounts. From tomorrow Wednesday 8 January, the water levy imposed on ALL golfers will increase by $3.00 for each 18 hole event or round and $2.00 for each 9. This increase will allow us to continue to provide water to our greens, tees and landing zones only. In addition to our current strategies, we are actively working to reduce our reliance on purchased water with a range of initiatives including the expansion of the main 5th dam area, upgrades to our irrigation system, and oversowing selective fairways with couch grass to reduce our overall water consumption on those fairways. The preferred lie local rule will remain in place until we have sufficient water and our course conditions improve. I appreciate that this is a difficult time for us all but we cannot allow our course to deteriorate to the point that it is not recoverable. To ensure this doesn’t happen we need to buy water and this slight increase in the levy will go someway in ensuring the Club’s survival. All the best, John McMaster Club Captain
