19.01.2022 Training at Camberwell looks a little different in 2020! Under the watchful eye of the club coaches, the playing group has been split across 5 training squads under the current return to play regulations in anticipation of the 2020/21 @vicpremcricket season kicking off on November 28. On alternating training days and split training times, the ground is divided up to focus on different skill areas, with cleaning during transitions to each new area and social distancing bein...g strictly adhered to. To take the field at training all players also completed an infection control course to hold each other accountable and promote a safe return to cricket for all club members. Ollie joined our senior list last season from the Laburnum Cricket Club and immediately made an impression in the Magpies' lower grades with his accurate left arm orthodox spin and top order batting capabilities. The 17-year-old was awarded the Geoff Mitchell Memorial Trophy last year as the Camberwell Magpies’ Most Promising Under 17 Player after recording 221 runs at 27.63 (hig...h score of 64) and 15 wickets across the Third and Fourth XIs. Jowie was presented the award by CMCC 1st XI scorer and life member Anthony Grace, with the big left-armer having made an immediate impact in his first season at McQueen Park, with his ability to take regular wickets ultimately rewarded with a 1st XI debut in the final round of the season! #144 Great work Jowie!!

Saturday brought the first competitive outing for the Camberwell Magpies of season 2020/21, with three XIs running out for practice games against Greenvale. The boys gained plenty confidence from the time spent in the middle and will look to take that form into further practice games against Ringwood this Saturday as we continue building towards Round 1 the following week.
