25.01.2022 While the titans of NSW and QLD kicked off on the field we had a great game of trivia at Magpies tonight. A one-woman team came out of the blue and would've won the day if it wasn't for old favourites 'Get Off My Lawn' clawing their way to the top. Lots of fun tonight and we finished just in time to watch the footy!

21.01.2022 Magpie Sports NSW Health Update There was NOT a COVID-19 case at Magpie Sports Club on 10 July. MAGPIE SPORTS CLUB TO RE-OPEN AT 10 AM 18 JULY. We have been contacted by NSW Health and advised that Magpie Sports Club DID NOT have a patron infected with COVID-19 attend our club on the 10th of July as previously advised. The patron attended another licenced club previously identified by NSW Health and Magpie Sports were mistakenly also contacted in error.... NSW Health have apologised for the confusion and disruption this has caused staff, members, visitors and the wider community. Any questions in relation to this matter should be directed to the National Coronavirus Health Information line on 1800 020 080. This news is a welcome relief, and staff of Magpie Sports will return to work today to re-open the doors of their freshly deep cleaned Club. Any Staff Members who are still awaiting test results will remain isolated until they have been cleared as per Covid19 protocols, and we recommend members and guests do the same. We wish the dedicated staff at NSW Health all the best in their fight against COVID-19 and as always, we offer our support to them in any way we can. We encourage all of our members and guests to please stay COVID-Safe by downloading the COVID-Safe App, maintaining social distancing at all times, demonstrating good hand hygiene, staying home if you are feeling unwell and getting tested if you develop any symptoms. 21.01.2022 We had lots of fun at doing the trivia last Wednesday! New champions 'Content Warning' couldn't make it this week, so our old favourites 'Out There Jerry' managed to take advantage of some choice betting rounds and mop the floor with some of the newbies. The old champs got to take home $80 worth of club vouchers. Even better every single team got to take something home that night! We're looking forward to our next trivia night this coming Wednesday 7pm @ Magpie Sports!

20.01.2022 Unfortunately, this year we cannot have the traditional Anzac Day we have become a custom to putting on each year. We are hopeful next year we can go back to normal and make this special day bigger and better. 17.01.2022 Tonight's quiz felt nostalgic as all hell! One of our oldest and greatest teams, 'Out There Jerry', was finally back in full strength for the first time in months. They absolutely steamrolled all the other teams tonight. Second and third place weren't even close! Lucky for 'Purple Rain' and 'Excelling At Excel' we have prizes for the runner ups. We also gave away some wines for those who didn't place top 3. Looking forward to next week!

16.01.2022 What a night of trivia! One of our favourite teams, 'Baileys' took a commanding early lead but they just couldn't hold onto it. Some unwise betting rounds later and the mysterious newcomers 'The Moops' took the top spot and walked away with $80 in club vouchers. We decided 'Baileys' deserved a consolation prize so they got to go home with a beautiful bottle of white. Looking forward to next week!

16.01.2022 What a night of trivia we had tonight! We had a whole army of new teams come in to compete for the many prizes up for grabs. 'Yamin', a team we haven't seen in ages, took a commanding lead at the start. They lost the plot midway through the game which allowed long time champions 'Out There Jerry' to take the top spot. But just before the end one of the new teams 'The New Guys' managed to pip the old champions at the post and got to walk away with $80 worth of club vouchers. Even more surprising a one-woman team took second place and bumped 'Out There Jerry' to third. We ended with a raffle to give away wines to the teams who weren't top 3. Can't wait to see what happens next week!

09.01.2022 Great night at the trivia tonight! Our old favourites 'Baileys' almost took the top prize of $80 worth of club vouchers tonight. Unfortunately for them they fritted their points away in some hilarious betting rounds. As a result 'Get Off My Lawn' got to walk away with the first prize. The best part about tonight was that every single team we had playing won something. Two of our teams even won the meat raffle! Looking forward to seeing more of you back after Origin.

07.01.2022 We had a triumphant end to the quizzing at Magpies tonight! It started off as a close game with the new teams 'Risky Quizness' and 'Holidays' making some early gains. But after a decisive horse race 'Troyas' took the top spot and won by a country mile! Every single team tonight walked away with a prize and we wish every team who's ever played the trivia with us the best possible Christmas time. We'll see all of you back again on the 13th of January!

06.01.2022 Great game of trivia tonight with the old regulars! We had a bunch of fun with a game that switched up the 1st place players regularly. 'Robin's Nest' managed to take the top prize of $80 worth of club vouchers. Every other team that played tonight walked away with prizes as well. Looking forward to next week!

05.01.2022 We had a triumphant return to quizzing at Magpies tonight! Now that Origin is over it looks like the people are keen to win some prizes. For most of the game one of our favourite teams, 'Baileys', managed to claw their way to the top. But right at the end we faced a major upset when they managed to slip all the way to fourth! 'Troyas', the true dark horse, managed to pip 'Baileys' at the post and walked away with $80 in club vouchers. Fair play to 'Baileys' though - they did win a bottle of champagne in a raffle to mull over their woes.

04.01.2022 We are pleased to advise that Magpies will be re-opening on Monday 1 June ! SATURDAY 9AM-CLOSE SUNDAY-FRIDAY 2PM-CLOSE... The Club will be adhering to the Governments strict conditions upon re-opening and trust that everyone will work with us with regards to these conditions as we want a safe environment for everybody in the building of Magpie Sports. The main conditions I would like to pass on are as follows: Patrons will be required to sign in and out of a register located at reception. Patrons will have to keep 1.5 metres from each other (Unless a Family). Patrons will need to comply with a Virus Marshall who will be roaming the club regularly ensuring the safety guidelines. All the Clubs normal facilities will be back in operation. We are however shelving our events and functions at this stage. We will look to put our regular events back such as Bingos, Trivia, Pokers and Raffles at a later date. Whilst we have been only operating as a bottleshop we have spent time modifying the club and painting to give it a fresh feel come Monday June 1. We are still in the process of making some small improvements to the club however all the team are just looking forward to getting back to work, providing a safe, fun, friendly experience. 01.01.2022 Magpie Sports Club has been contacted by NSW Health this afternoon and advised that they are currently investigating a patron who has recently tested positive to COVID-19. They have advised that the patron visited Magpie Sports Club on Friday 10th of July between 8pm and 12 midnight. Whilst we have not been advised to close by NSW Health at this stage, in an abundance of caution we have made the decision to close the club this afternoon to enable a professional deep clean of ...the premises and we hope to reopen for business tomorrow. The health and safety of our patrons and our team are our highest priority. If you were at the club during this time and are deemed by NSW Health (after finalising their investigation) to be a close contact, they will be in touch by mobile or email. Should any staff be considered close contacts from that evening, they will be relieved of duty and will be required to self-isolate as per NSW Health guidelines. In the meantime if you have any concerns or are showing any symptoms you can refer to the NSW Health Website (www.health.nsw.gov.au) for further information or testing clinic locations.
