24.01.2022 Thanks to our clients for their kind words in yesterday's Sunday Tasmanian story by Jarrad Bevan.

24.01.2022 Planning approval has just been granted for this Alteration and Addition project in West Hobart. Retention of this quaint cottage maintains the streetscape, while new open living spaces step out from behind it to catch the northern sun.

24.01.2022 Shortlisted. We are thrilled to receive news that our Bruny Island Hideaway and our Sherwood Hill House have both been shortlisted in the 'new homes under 200m2' category of the Houses Awards by the national Houses Magazine which is endorsed by the Australian Institute of Architects. Additionally the Hideaway has been shortlisted in the 'sustainability' category. We look forward to the final decisions of the highly respected Jury. We encourage you to take a moment to see other inspiring projects from around Australia. https://housesawards.com.au/

23.01.2022 Construction is well underway on this new home in sandy bay, conceived as a glass pavilion allowing our clients to live amongst the garden they’ve created over many years. 21.01.2022 A door in the landscape. A threshold to a private place of retreat.

20.01.2022 Our 2018 Periscope house perched on the hillside. Out clients have been hard at work making the most of their south facing garden! @rob_maver @skookombuilding #hobartarchitecture #tasmanianarchitecture

16.01.2022 2018 has been a big year for Maguire + Devine Architects. Thanks to our team, clients, contractors, consultants and friends for being part of our journey. We’ve received state awards and national shortlisting and commendations, yeehaa! We’ve seen a bunch of great projects reach completion and many others begin. Oh, and we’ve quietly moved to a beautiful new office in New Town. Like this post and you’ll be invited to our party in the new year. Here’s a few highlights from 2018. Best wishes to you and yours x. #tasmanianarchitects #hobartarchitecture #lovewhatyoudo #designlikeyougiveadamn

15.01.2022 Our South Hobart Garden flat project was handed over last week. The timing is fortunate for Dan’s partner’s parents from interstate to take refuge in these uncertain times. We look forward to some professional photos once the green roof is planted with native grasses. Our thoughts are with our (global) community in these challenging times, when home is our true sanctuary. @ Hobart Town, Tasmania, Australia

15.01.2022 The Wayfinder Mobile Storytelling Studio website is up and running - take a look! We also encourage you to follow the Wayfinder on social media to hear stories from people around our wonderful state. Construction of the studio is coming together well thanks to much hard work and perseverance by Guy Paramore Designs. The Studio will debut at the Huon Valley Mid-Winter Feast. "The purpose of The Wayfinder is to travel around Tasmania and collect stories from every day people an...d every day life and share them through the intimate art of audio storytelling. The Wayfinder is a mobile recording studio designed and built in Tasmania. It is a professional sound booth with excellent sound proof acoustic insulation properties and has been carefully designed to be conducive to conversation and make people feel comfortable and relaxed. The Wayfinder was an idea born from the imagination of its creator, Helene Thomas, however, inspiration has been drawn from the US initiative StoryCorps and the BBC’s The Listening Project, where stories are preserved in order to build connections between people. The studio has been designed and built in collaboration between Guy Paramore Designs and Maguire + Devine Architects." https://www.facebook.com/thewayfinderstudio/ https://www.instagram.com/thewayfinderstorystudio/ http://www.thewayfinder.com.au/

14.01.2022 We value the relationships we create with our clients and enjoy returning for a cup of tea. This modest garden pavilion was created for a couple with emerging mobility and health issues. While level access, thermal comfort and safe bathrooms were a priority, the design of the home and interior is a direct reflection of the warm personalities of the owners. Rich interior tones form a backdrop to the fine furniture and objects gathered over generations. A black ceiling and dark green walls in the living spaces are recessive and draw the eyes into the garden and across the River Derwent to the stunning Kunanyi Range. #tasmanianarchitecture #hobartarchitects #timber #livingsmall #pavillion #wellbeing #home #ageinginplace #ageing @rob_maver @merlin_construction_

12.01.2022 We’ve revisited our 2018 periscope house in West Hobart now that our clients and their pets have settled into their new home. Please enjoy a visual tour of this house over the coming weeks. This new family home is located high on a steep lot in west Hobart. The long views over the city and river Derwent are screened by the bulk of the neighbour’s house. In response, our design steps up to peek over, with the living room enjoying a 180 degrees panorama. On the low side a kitchen and dining room open onto a private front garden and terrace, beneath the powerful presence of Kunanyi rising to the west. The house becomes a viewing device, moulded to connect this family to the water, city, mountain and gardens. @rob_maver @skookombuilding #hobartandbeyond #hobartarchitecture #hobartarchitects @ Hobart, Tasmania

12.01.2022 Granton Garden House #gghouse by @maguiredevine We had the pleasure of handing over the #gghouse to our excited client last month. While the building is finished, as the name suggests this house is all about the garden! We look forward to revisiting once courtyard planting is established and this home has settled into the landscape. @mansfieldbuilders @rob_maver

04.01.2022 Family home in Wodonga, VIC Anchored to the landscape a protective masonry plinth offers privacy, refuge and outlook. Above floats a low, wide brimmed roof shading interior and exterior spaces from harsh summer sun. Courtyards puncture the plan, bringing daylight and lush greenery deep into the house. A low profile and rich, natural colours allow it sit sensitively in this semi rural landscape. #maguiredevine #regionalvictoria #render #wodonga #rurallife #

01.01.2022 An affordable retrofit for hinged doors with lever handles to make them hands free. Toe plates also available. Stay safe!... http://au.hafele-news.com/i/I26B69tKPSr5FeQnaO2axdKw1Z4_Ysf

01.01.2022 Our Garden Flat preparing for its green roof in South Hobart! Tucked into the bottom of the garden this flat disappears completely from above. The existing garden flows seamlessly onto the roof so that no garden space is lost. Native grasses and shrubs will provide habitat for native fauna, while the soil and thick insulation will increase thermal performance. #hobartarchitecture #greenroof #smallarchitecture #grannyflat
