25.01.2022 We know that you must be frustrated by the stage 3 restrictions back in place on Thursday. To fix your sushi and sashimi cravings, our shop will remain open for takeaway during the lockdown period. We still accept platter orders so please do call us or message us to place your orders.

I ordered the Sushi Deluxe Platter, Chirashi sushi, Sashmi platter, Kaisen Don and some Tasmanian oysters from @magurobar! Let me tell you everything was SO GOOD AND FRESH AND TOO PRETTY TO EAT Mum was not disappointed at all so thank you @magurobar for these lovely platters I think that it was worth the price tag so if you ever get a chance to, definitely try them out!

15.01.2022 These inside-out (Uramaki) roll is a maki sushi roll with the seaweed on the inside and wrapped with ingredients such as sushi rice, salmon, avocado on the outside. It is an American innovation back in the late 1960's by Machita Ichiro the sushi chef in a restaurant called Tokyo Kaikan in Los Angeles. When the number of American customers started to increase, some disliked the texture of the seaweed, so Ichiro turned the roll "Inside-Out"; thus putting the rice on the outsid...e, and the seaweed on the inside. Kind of "hiding" it. This seemed to pacify the American customers and so the California Roll was born. However, it's never been popular in Japan because the Japanese prefer the texture of the seaweed. And since Uramaki is easy to fall apart when eating with chopsticks. They prefer the traditional Maki roll with the seaweed on the outside so they can eat it by hand too. Are you team Uramaki or Maki?

11.01.2022 Maki sushi are rolls made with sticky rice, fish and dried seaweed, called nori. Most maki places the nori on the outside, but Uramaki rolls place the rice on the outside. On average, one Maki roll contains 250 to 300 calories, depending the type of fish and fillings. Brown rice has more nutritious and it has a lower glycemic index than white rice. Some types of sushi are higher in calories: Rolls made with tempura shrimp like Panko Prawn, Panko Calamari and Crispy Chicken rolls are higher in fat and calories because they have been deep fried. Some rolls have mayonnaise so they will be higher in fat and calories too. Rolls with avocado are also higher in fat, but keep in mind that avocado contains heart healthy monounsaturated fat.

It has been a hot minute since I indulged in some fresh sashimi and sushi, more than 100 days (but who was counting? ). But being able to reunite with the fresh sweetness of raw seafood on a bed of sushi rice was one of those close your eyes and enjoy moments...

01.01.2022 Chirashi sushi is originated from Tokyo (then Edo) during the Meiji Period (1868-1912). During the Edo period, there was significant flooding that affected the food supply. Consequently, the government imposed a "one soup and one side dish" restriction. Japanese then invented to sneak more fish and vegetables into meals by finely chopping, mixing, and hiding them in the rice. In the modern days, Chirashi Sushi becomes a classic dish of scattered sashimi pieces over a bed of ...vinegar rice. It is an easy home-cooked meal and it's a festival Spring dish. The pop of colour represents the happiness of spring. It is also a celebration food for the Girl's Day or the Doll Festival on 3rd March. It aims at praying for the happiness and good health of young girls. Our Chirashi Sushi contains scattered salmon, tuna, egg, avocado, cucumber and cooked prawn served on a bed of sushi rice.
