21.01.2022 The first stage of the JobKeeper registration is now open. Business owners can register directly via the ATO Business Portal. You can access the portal by setting up a MyGovID and linking it through the Relationship Access Manager, or Maher Partners can register for you via our tax agent portal. Most important at this stage is to know the number of eligible employees you have paid or intend to pay for each of the first two fortnights. Employees must be paid by the end of April, however we recommend not making payment until you have successfully registered and the Employee Nomination Notice has been signed and returned. Follow up with your employees to get these forms returned ASAP. The second stage of the registration will open 4th May at which point you will need to identify each of your eligible employees.

Did you know, super payments are only considered to be paid for the purpose of claiming a tax deduction once they have been received by the super fund, not the date you pay them or when the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) accepts them? 13.01.2022 Good news! The $150,000 instant asset write-off threshold has been extended for a further 6 months to 31 December 2020. So no need to rush those important asset purchases. However, if you want to take advantage of the write-off this financial year, remember that the asset must be in use or installed ready for use by 30 June.
10.01.2022 With Cash Flow Boost and JobKeeper Payments starting to flow through to many businesses, it may be a timely opportunity to consider any asset purchase requirements. The instant asset write-off threshold has been increased to $150,000 meaning many businesses can deduct the cost of capital purchases up to this threshold immediately. But be quick, the threshold is due to decrease to $1,000 from 1 July 2020! 02.01.2022 For those businesses who have started their JobKeeper journey by registering their intent to claim, the next step in the process has just been released. Businesses can now get their eligible employees to complete a JobKeeper Employee Nomination Notice. Businesses will not be able to claim JobKeeper payments without a signed nomination from each employee.
