16.01.2022 Safety (#mentalwellbeing and #physicalwellbeing) of our children is very important to us here at Mahwen Concepts. There is a crazy sickening hack 'Momo' which has the potential to seriously harm the mental wellbeing of our very young ones. Some YouTube children's video's are now being targeted - ranging from Peppa Pig & cartoons to Fortnite & Minecraft. The MomoChallenge has been around for sometime, with harmful (and in some cases suicidal) behaviour linked overseas in ...high-school aged children. I found this guide yesterday, although it is UK based, it does provide some information & tips if you need assistance talking about this with your kids. Please check in with your kids, talk to them, and it goes without saying to monitor their online behaviour. Don't forget #kidshelpline is there to help too. #saynotoobullying #talk #keepourkidssafe See more

16.01.2022 When should you review your safety documents? There is no golden magic specific time frame outlined in legislation. What is outlined is that businesses should review and revise as often as needed to ensure they are adequate and effective in maintaining worker safety. So what does that mean?... Review policies, procedures, forms, SWMS, JSA's at least annually Other reasons to review and update: after an incident or near miss from outcomes of an audit when legislation & Codes of Practice are updated chat from workers (complaints & suggestions) If you haven't looked at your various safety documents lately then we strongly recommend you do. Contact us if you want to talk through the changes needed. #safety #compliance #nosafetyexcuses #gcsafetyguru #safetyfirst #awareness #workersafety See more

15.01.2022 NEW workplace exposure standard takes effect in QLD from 1 July 2020. National workplace exposure standard for RCS has been halved from 0.1mg/m3 to 0.05mg/m3 (8hr time-weighted average airborne conc). What does this mean? Review your current dust controls - ensure you continue to have a combination of ways to stop the dust at its source, remove the dust from the air, and stop the dust from spreading.... Different industries have different processes and requirements - briefly below are some controls stopping the dust at its source e.g. water suppression; on-tool dust extraction; portable dust extraction; using tools which produce less dust removing dust from the air e.g. exhaust ventilation; spray/mists; dust capture hood stopping the dust from spreading e.g enclose a dusty process in a booth; clean up regularly; wet dust slurry disposed correctly protecting your workers e.g. enclosed operator spaces with correct filtration; correct respirators; air and health monitoring.
