25.01.2022 As we know, lockdown tends to mean more cookies, cakes and banana bread, as we find ourselves spending more time in the kitchen. But too much sugar can lead to increased risks of tooth decay. The WHO recommends a maximum of 6tsp of added sugar a day.

25.01.2022 If you have managed to fit in a family trip to the dentist during this busy and chaotic year, there’s still time! Book online via our website or call 9317 5636.

24.01.2022 Do you need an emergency dental treatment? You can still book appointments for Mondays and Thursdays, between 10am-1pm for emergencies only. You can call 0458 899 968 or email us on [email protected].

22.01.2022 Limit added sugar intake to 6 or less teaspoons per day. This equals 24 grams of added sugar or less (1 teaspoon sugar = 4 grams sugar). Figures show that the average Australian is consuming 14tsp of sugar a day, a whole lot more than the maximum 6tsp a day recommended by the World Health Organisation for increased health benefits such as decreasing the risk of tooth decay, which is having a profoundly negative effect on Australias dental health as revealed by Australias Oral Health Tracker (ada.org.au/oralhealthtracker).

22.01.2022 Were currently operating under Level 2 restrictions as per the recommendation from the ADA to protect our staff and patients. As a result, we cannot offer clean/hygiene services until further notice. Were conducting thorough examinations, treatment planning and fillings if needed. You wont be charged again for an examination if you come back for a clean/hygiene visit when restrictions are lifted. To book an appointment email [email protected] or visit our website.

22.01.2022 We usually think of sugar as the white granules we spoon into coffee and tea or add to baking recipes. But sugar comes in many forms and they can all contribute to tooth decay. Sugar can be called over 50 different names, making it hard to detect on food and drink labels. These are known as hidden sugars. Look out for these names on the ingredient list of nutrition information panels when shopping. Even foods and drinks which claim to have no added or refined sugars, can contain a lot of sugar. The closer the ingredient is to the top of the ingredient list, the more of it present in the food or drink.

10.01.2022 When harmful factors outweigh those that protect the teeth, then tooth decay can form. Certain mouth bacteria that live on the surface of teeth consume the sugar we eat and turn it into acid. The acid sits on the surface of the teeth and pulls minerals out from the tooths surface causing it to weaken. This process happens every time we eat or drink.... If these acid attacks occur over and over again and there is not enough protection provided to the teeth, this can result in tooth decay. See more
