15.01.2022 : The Importance Of An Accurate Fault Report Last week I had a classic case of inaccurate reporting of a fault description causing a lot of unnecessary callouts, tech time and wasted diagnostics measures. The site is an apartment building with ZKTeco access control, doing a number of doors & 2 lift cars. The fault report was that both of the EC10 lift controllers were failing simultaneously and allowing free access to all levels. As you know, with ZKTeco there is no ‘...master’ controller & thus no single point of failure. The fact that it was reported that both EC10s were faulting simultaneously implies something common to the 2 stand alone intelligent controllers. Read more: https://bit.ly/30Emqwz #TechTip

13.01.2022 : NBN & Alarm Reporting In the last week, I have been asked at least 4 times about alarm reporting & the NBN. My answer is always the same. as a general rule NO.... There are a number of reasons I take this rather strong stand. Firstly, almost all alarm panel diallers report utilising a format called Contact ID, often abbreviated to CID. This format utilises DTMF tones for alarm information reporting. As the NBN is just a big VOIP system, yes including the Uni-V ports, it will at times have issues. At times your alarm reports will not get through due to the length of these DTMF tones being changed as they pass over the NBN network. Read more: https://bit.ly/3leV4q5 #techtips

02.01.2022 : Tips For ZKTeco Sales of ZKTeco access control product are increasing & with this increase in sales comes an increase in tech support calls. Below are a number of the most common issues which I have received calls about. 1. Can add a controller to the software, but then cannot then communicate with the controller... 2. On a 2 door controller both readers drive the same door OR the second door on the 2 door controller does not work 3. I can see the controller, but when adding get an error that says something like Cannot add pull device or Cannot add this device type. 4. Issues when using stand alone device, typically biometric device like MA300, to interface via wiegand to an existing access control system, the wiegand does not seem to work. 5. When using multiple facial readers facial recognition speed & reliability varies from reader to reader? 6. Will the software run on Mac? 7. Can I import existing users/cards? 8. Can I do lift control on with the no charge ZKAccess 3.5 software? Read more: https://bit.ly/3lgjWOy #techtips
