Here's an article suggesting that COVID-19 might see 'the rebirth of the suburban main drag', where you can stay local to secure your essential goods and services with real human interaction. Times are tough right now, but there is opportunity on the other side. https://www.abc.net.au//how-coronavirus-could-for/12137122

16.01.2022 Mainstreet SA Chair Vivienne Holloway contributed to an article in the Sunday Mail on neighbourhood mainstreets. Whilst the pandemic has posed a massive challenge, it has not been without its positive side effects for many suburban mainstreets. We are always keen to hear how things are playing out in mainstreets and town centres, so please share with us your local experiences as we all navigate through the repercussions of COVID-19.

04.01.2022 COVID 19 is upon us, and whilst our mainstreets are still able to operate, other parts of the globe have been dealing with escalated social distancing measures to contain the spread of the virus. We liked this useful list of tips compiled for mainstreet practitioners by Mainstreet America: Be sure to follow updates from your state’s public health department Gather a list of businesses that are currently offering online shopping, and heavily promote the list to the public ... Create a directory of restaurants that are providing take-out and delivery services, and heavily promote the list to the public Encourage businesses that are not on those lists to create or enhance their online shopping experience Be sure businesses are intensifying their social media presence, and amplify their posts on your own social channels Research business interruption insurance and disseminate information to your business owners Learn what creative initiatives your businesses come up with to promote their products during this time of social distancing; share those ideas with other businesses in your community, state, and national networks Highlight the value and reliability of locally sourced products and local supply chains on all communication channels Partner with local health authorities to help deliver public health updates.
