We’re inspired by Le Deuxième Sexe (The Second Sex), publised in 1949 in 2 volumes Facts and Myths and Lived Experience at a time when the role of women in society was changing. Women entered the workforce during WWII, exploding assumptions about the natural and traditional roles of women. De Beauvoir showed that what had been considered ‘intrinsic’ to being a woman was in fact a social and historical construct.
