21.01.2022 No matter where we live, or who our mob is, we can all go through tough times. Today is RUOK Day - let's take time today and every day to always look out for ea...ch other. If someone you know a family member, someone from your community, a friend, neighbour or workmate is doing it tough, ask them Are you OK?. By asking and listening, we can help those we care about feel more supported and connected, which can help stop them from feeling worse over time. Head to https://www.ruok.org.au/strongertogether for some great resources, talking points and more. #RUOK #RUOKstrongertogether

18.01.2022 Repost- R U OK Day It's #RUOKDay, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK.... There's more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. 17.01.2022 Next year we will be welcoming back Aunty Carol Cunningham to teach our Cert II Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts Program out of TAFE NSW Sing...leton, Cessnock and Maitland. Carol Cunningham is a proud Wiradjuri woman and an equally proud Aboriginal Artist. Carol has artwork that has taken to America, France and England, as well as Australia Singleton Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, donated as auctioned item for local disability organisation. Carol has won several art shows, produced contractual projects for specific concepts, and always ensuring that respect of the local Aboriginal people is kept at the forefront of her mind. One of Carol’s artworks was included into a book that was being produced for some of the patients of Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. Carol is a graduate of UTS for Bachelor of Education, and has Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for Professional and Community. Carol is a Justice of the Peace and a First Aid Officer. Carol currently works at Hunter Street Newcastle TAFE NSW and delivers cultural arts units to Certificate 2 and 3 Aboriginal students, which she absolutely loves. Carol has been invited to be the visiting artist for the RYDON Conference and had to produce a piece of artwork about the theme of the conference which was Bullying. Carol has also been asked to work and deliver Aboriginal based workshops for the youth and community in the Hunter Valley, as well as being asked to be the Aboriginal artist for a workshop for the Home for the Homeless that was being visited by Father Chris O’Reilly. Carol has also volunteered in several schools in the region delivering cultural awareness to the students about Aboriginal History. Carol was chosen from a list of candidates to create the artwork for the Singleton CLC which was a pivotal moment in her life, and then when Aunty Kath Miller recognised the story and relevance of her artwork. Watching other people admire the indigenous artwork and the story and symbolism that was brought to life on the wall of the CLC will never be forgotten. Following on from this story, Carol nominated herself and won the contract to paint an artwork for Scone CLC, which she created the story of Burning Mountain. Carol is currently working with a Taster Group at Singleton, Cessnock and Maitland. She looks forward to teaching the Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts once again.
