24.01.2022 "I’ve been asked if I’d sing some of my Christian songs for grown ups, from albums like Calvary Road and Real Hope. Once again, my friends from The Gospel Coali...tion Australia have cheered from the sidelines and I’m grateful once again for their support. I can’t guarantee an actual fire, but I’ll do my best with the songs! Colin’s Fireside Songs Facebook Live, This Thursday 7th May at 7:30 pm AEST. See more

24.01.2022 An engaging, encouraging speaker who communicates the truths of the Christian faith. He will be sorely missed.

20.01.2022 All set up for Sunday - while observing the 4.0 sq m / person rule we can seat 66 people. A number of people will continue to worship from home so we will continue to video record the bible talks and put them up on YouTube. Service starts at 9.30am.

10.01.2022 A b/w photo on a cloudy autumn day.........

10.01.2022 Mark is one of my colleagues and worth listening to as he points out the way the government is so inconsistent when it comes to thinking that pubs and clubs, with alcohol thrown into the mix, could be safer venues than churches. It is bizarre thinking from the government.

09.01.2022 We are in the process of rebuilding our Maitland Presbyterian Church website........ you can visit us here: https://www.maitlandpresbyterianchurch.org.au/

08.01.2022 MPC Covid19 Update Easing of Restrictions June 5, 2020 To our MPC family: During the week, on Wednesday night 03/06/20, the Session (our elders and minister) met to discuss the easing of Covid-19 restrictions and whether or not MPC would begin meeting.... Although our building allows us to comply with the 4.0m2 per person for the maximum number of 50 persons to gather for worship, we have decided to wait until restrictions are eased further to allow for up to 100 people to gather in worship in other words, when our whole church family can gather together. Our expectation is that this may happen in July. Among the many reasons discussed: Since only 50 people can gather at a time we cannot fit all of the MPC family into one worship service. We would have to turn regular members of our church family away. We decided against two services mainly because of the strict cleaning requirements and the risk of droplets and aerosols remaining between services. Droplets and aerosols are produced when we speak. Droplets will fall to surfaces relatively quickly but aerosols, fine particles suspended in the air which can carry the corona-virus, remain for some time. For most of us, the risk is minimal but for anyone with compromised health or over 70yrs of age, the risk is more significant. We would not be able to sing an essential part of our worship service. It will be difficult to supervise the 1.5m social distancing rules for entry and departure. It would be distressing to turn someone away who may have a higher than normal temperature (we have a digital infrared thermometer -like used on entry to a hospital which we would be using upon entry to MPC). We have no way of determining if someone is a-symptomatic i.e. unknowingly carrying the corona virus with no obvious symptoms which presents a risk, especially if we have visitors to the service who we don’t know. There were other contributing reasons but a big factor was ‘how can we be loving towards those who fall into the higher risk category (70+ yrs of age) or have a compromised health scenario?’ In the end, the Session decided that waiting was the loving thing to do. We realise that this may be disappointing and may appear to be overly cautious. However, we are asking you to persevere with our present arrangements. Russell will continue to provide sermons on YouTube and our pastoral ministry couples will continue their weekly follow ups.

04.01.2022 There are lots of things in life that are relatively simple to explain, but hard to actually pull off. Swimming is just a matter of pulling with your arms alter...nately whilst kicking with your feet. Writing an essay is all about setting out a clear argument and topping and tailing it with an introduction and conclusion. Cutting through a plank of wood is just about measuring and marking, and then keeping the saw straight and the strokes smooth. Playing golf is all about keeping your head still and swinging the club through the ball. Simple. But simple as they are, all these things are also remarkably hard. And living a gospel-shaped life is like that. https://ap.org.au//why-living-a-gospel-shaped-life-isnt-c/
