14.01.2022 MEET THE CAST - Emma Saxby-Tisdell as Helen/Anne Emma found her passion for performing, particularly acting, in high school where drama was her favourite subject. Recently she has started acting again, firstly in Maitland Repertory Theatre’s Australia Day (2019) and then in a student film ‘Lost and Found’ for Newcastle TAFE. She is extremely excited to be back with Maitland Repertory Theatre working with the incredible cast and crew of A Doll’s House.

13.01.2022 Thanks to Young People's Theatre for these positive words during an uncertain period for theatre's everywhere. We're not going anywhere. #notgoinganywhere

13.01.2022 Nicholas Thoroughgood - Director Nicholas started his theatrical life as a frog; something no one would expect in the natural world, but then when has he ever been natural? He fully chose the creative life when he was given the opportunity to play Michael Banks in the Sydney cast of Disney’s Mary Poppins (2011). Since then his resume has vastly increased, with acting credits such as Arty in Lost in Yonkers, Leaf Coneybear in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Posner ...in the History Boys and various roles in Love and Information. His past directing credits include The Crucible and Alice in Wonderland Jr. He has also had the pleasure of writing I Hope It’s Not Raining In London for Bearfoot Theatre, which later went on tour in 2019. Although COVID has been hard of everyone, some exponentially more than others, Nick considers himself lucky to have been brought back (however abruptly) to his family and friends in Newcastle and the Hunter. We’re slowly being let back into the sun again, and that’s definitely a reason to celebrate.

12.01.2022 Maitland Repertory Theatre's performance and rehearsal spaces have been fairly quiet for the last 3 months - but things have been happening behind the scenes. While we haven’t been able to rehearse in person and perform, our acting classes successfully transitioned to online classes via Zoom for Term 2. Auditions for Reamus Youth Theatre's "Twelfth Night" and our junior show "Escape from Ragnorok Mountain" were held online and online rehearsals are being held. In the backg...round, we're making use of the lockdown to maintain and improve the theatre's facilities. We’re also preparing COVID safe plans and procedures for the day we can start rehearsing face to face and can open up to audiences. Sadly, the remainder of our 2020 Season of plays is still on hold but as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease we should be able to start rehearsals soon and recommence performances safely later this year. As a reminder of the days when we could perform, here are images of "Mr.Melancholy" and "Australia Day". We look forward to seeing you at "The Mousetrap" when we reopen.

09.01.2022 Don't forget there are 2 more "Waiting For Lefty" performances tonight and 2 more tomorrow! Saturday 6pm and 8:30pm Sunday 12noon and 2:30pm... 08.01.2022 MEET THE CAST - Hannah King as Christine Linde Hannah has been an avid lover of theatre her whole life. Growing up she was heavily involved in Young People’s Theatre, where she discovered her passion for the stage. In 2015 Hannah won the Female Actor Under 18 CONDA award for her performance as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. She has been involved in many musicals including Pirates of Penzance, High School Musical and The Sound of Music. In recent years, Hannah has enjoyed performing in The Grainery Theatre Company’s annual Christmas musicals. This will be Hannah’s first time performing in a play and she is thrilled to be involved in this exciting production.

06.01.2022 Time for a little history! It all started for Maitland Repertory Theatre in 1947, when a group of Maitlanders came together to form a group to "present dramatic entertainment to Maitland". Our first plays were performed at Maitland Town Hall and early rehearsals were held upstairs above what is now "The Reject Shop" in High Street. Our 1940s plays were:... 1947 - Tons of Money 1948 - Rookery Nook 1949 - A Murder Has Been Arranged Get a glimpse of those early days by taking a peek inside the programs of our first three shows and one photo of Nell Manning (Nell Pyle) in "A Murder Has Been Arranged".

05.01.2022 Tomorrow is a big day for Maitland Repertory Theatre with some of our groups returning on site. While we have made some big changes to ensure that we are COVID Safe, one of the biggest is our new conditions of entry! Please ensure that you do not attend MRT if you do not meet the conditions of entry.

05.01.2022 MEET THE CAST - Campbell Knox as Doctor Rank Campbell joined MRT’s Acting Classes in 2017 and has been involved in a number of productions such as ‘Lost in Yonkers’ (2018), ‘Mr Melancholy’ (2020) and ‘Snow White’ (2019), for which he was an assistant director. He finds the role of Dr Rank a fun challenge as it differs from his past experiences in roles of a more absurd or melodramatic nature. He is enjoying working with a cast so talented and diverse in the dramatic arts, Working with such talented actors and directors has been an amazing experience and I hope audiences love this show as much as we do.

03.01.2022 There are just 2 more chances to see Reamus Youth Theatre's "Waiting For Lefty" directed by Joanne Lawler - tonight and tomorrow night! Friday 21 May and Saturday 22 May at 8pm! Book online at www.mrt.org.au or buy tickets at the door.
